It sits in the dock with green light on but wont

I'm presuming that it use to turn on,yes? try doing a soft reset by removing it from the dock and turning it over and removing the sd card (if you have one installed), and then, using a straightened paper clip or straight pin, locate the reset hole (about 1" to the left of the sd card slot) and push it for about 15 seconds. Hopefully after that you will be able to turn the unit on. If that doesn't work, you'll have to call tech support.

After attempting to update my tomtom910 I have not

If you updated the operating system, and you are having this problem then something went wrong with the update. Hope you made a backup before you updated. If you did not, connect your 910 to the pc and then go to "My Computer" and open the drive for your 910. Delete "ttsystem". Now open TomTom Home and let TomTom Home install the operating system for your 910.

Wont start with full battery and reset button

U are 100% sure this battery is ok? if the GPS is around two years old then the battery is suspect, remember just because u charged the battery that doesn't mean it is any good, if if the charger is hooked up a defective battery will still keep the GPS from turning on, if u are sure it has a good battery then the only way to get it fixed is to send it back to Tomtom, they can provide an exchange unit that is already repaired to cut down turn around time

TomTom 520 won't start

Hi all,
I got the following response to this little problem. Will try it out and hopefully my 520 will work again soon.

To ensure that your device is correctly connected to your PC, please do the following:-

STEP 1 Run the Registry Cleaner Tool

• Disconnect the TomTom and remove any USB devices from your PC, If you use a USB Hub, please disconnect that also.
• Run the RemoveRegEntries tool. You can download it from :-http://tomtom.com/lib/img/cs/S4S/files/RemoveRegEntries_TTGOv1.exe
A Black window will appear briefly then close.
• Make sure that you have got Administrator rights on the PC. Otherwise you may not be allowed to connect new hardware (especially the case when using office computers)
• Reboot your PC

STEP 2 Connect the TomTom

• Make sure the device is fully charged before connecting it to the computer. Ideally a mininum of 4 hours charge.
• Reset the device using a paper clip (see http://www.tomtom.com/6965). When resetting, keep the reset button pushed in for at least 20 seconds, but DO NOT turn the device back on just yet.
• Ensure that your TomTom has power connected to it. There should be a green light on the TomTom unit. If your device came with a Home Charger, please make sure that is plugged in to the TomTom also.
• Connect the TomTom to a USB port on the back of your PC. We strongly suggest that you use a USB 2.0 port and not a USB 1.1 Port. (USB 2.0 ports are faster USB ports, which are standard on all modern PC's, older PC's and some laptops may still use USB 1.1 ports which are slower and can prevent some USB devices from connecting properly).

STEP 3 Switch the TomTom On.

• On your PC, open My Computer
• Now switch the TomTom On while it is connected to the PC with the green light on.
• Look at My Computer, do any disk drives appear as you switch the TomTom On? If so, which drive letter is it?
• Double click on the TomTom disk.
• What files and yellow folders do you see?, please make a note of them and reply back with what files and yellow folders you see. If possible, please provide us with a screenshot showing all the details.

If the device is NOT listed as a 'Removable drive' under 'My Computer' when you switch the TomTom On, try the following:-

STEP 4 Check Device Manager

• Disconnect the TomTom from the computer.
• It is likely that you have a Firewall on your PC, in some cases, Firewalls can prevent USB devices from being recognized by the PC. We suggest configuring your Firewall and security settings to allow all USB devices to connect to your PC. Once you have done this, we suggest trying the steps above again.
• Go to 'Start' and right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'
• Select the 'Hardware' tab
• Expand 'Disk drives'. If the TomTom device is shown there with a red cross, right-click on it and select 'Enable'
• Check under 'My Computer' to see if the device now shows up as a 'Removable drive'.

We also suggest it is a good idea to try to connect your TomTom to another PC to see if you get the same problem.

Is there an internal battery that should allow

Yes there is an internal 'round' Li-Ion rechargeable battery (3.7V rated around 2300mA) inside your GPS.

If your unit cannot be turn-on out of the cradle, after it has been charging for some times, then it may have reached its useful life and will need replacing.

Hope it helps. Let me know how you go.

Hi, can't find any reference on my tom tom go 910

tap the satellite tab on the main screen (where the satellite bars are) then tap the right hand side where the satellite bars are on that next screen..

thats where mine is located, but it might be different on yours if you moved the location of the satellite bar on the main map page (there is a couple of different options to choose from in the options tab, as to where to locate the satellite bar)

Tomtom 910 dark screen

If the LCD backlight is gone theres no choice but to replace the whole screen ( OR it could be the LCD lamp driver circuit on the circuit board ) . It's not economical to purchase a new screen but it is possible to purchase a defunct 910 , typicaly off ebay and use the screen from it . ( ensure you are buying a tomtom with a good intact screen ) . Changing the screen is tricky and fiddly but someone with general electronics knowledge should'nt find it difficult. You also need the special "star" drivers for the screws ( sometimes known as ' torxs ' ). If you are inexperienced with this sort of work then its best not to attempt it. There are companies advertising that can do this type of work for you and especialy in UK......... Good luck.

TomTom 910 - when I turn the deice on the logo

Letting the battery run down will not fix it, so recharge it. I suspect your maps have become corrupted or at worst deleted. Reinstall your maps from the CD or by contacting TOMTOM and quoting your licence number for a download.
Leaving GPS in car subject to extreme heat will danage the card and often the maps. Gloveboxes are not exempt either as they often reach over 50C when car is left in the sun. ( assuming it is summer wherever you are)

I have now put new

This would need repair if after a battery change you having similar issues there was damage done by the older battery that would require a logic board change-out and at this point it would not even be worth the fix after a battery change out and now issues with display and what not you might be best using this as a trad in for a newer model sorry to break the bad news to you but if I do not tell you how it is you might fall for a ****** solution that will be digging further into your wallet.
