Tomtom GO 910 GPS Receiver - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Tom Tom go 910 screen get frozen every time I turn it on
I had the same problem...I contacted Technical Support at TomTom and found out the following: I had purchased my unit through Dell and there seems to be a lot of calls in to them to get it going. It IS possible to get it working again.
This is a copy of the message I received from Technical Support...it does include formatting the drive...you will need to back up your maps...
After all maps have been copied to the computer, we can reformat the disk. This is done by entering to My Computer and right clicking on the drive that displays the TomTom. From there, left click on format and choose start (not quick format). In one to two minutes, the disk will be formatted and all files will have deleted. This does mean we will have lost all demos for audiobooks and mp3 player. After doing this, we can copy the map folders back onto the TomTom drive from the desktop. Then, we can open the TomTom HOME program. Once the program reads the TomTom drive, it will check for updates. These updates should include a TomTom program application and voices. We can download these updates and then choose to install them. Once installed, we can then safely remove hardware. The unit should reboot on its own, but we may have to reset the unit if it does not. After doing this, the unit should be in full working order and you should be able to navigate.
Just a quick note...in order for the TomTom to work correctly, we must have an application, a map, and at least one voice installed on the hard drive.
Tom Tom XL battery died
Leave it on charge on the computer and if it does not still come on, then you try to fix it in another gps device and try to charge it on there, if it still does not hold a charge, then it means you will have to replace the battery, because the cells are weak and cannot hold a charge.

How do I re-set, won't turn on
hi dfoehr
the reset on a 910 is under where the mount connects to the gps (see picture below)
its very hard to see (least for me it is) but if your looking at the gps where it mounts, the rest
is just to the right side top of the contacts. hold it for about 15 secounds then press and hold the power button for upto ten secounds...actually, you can try that before the reset. Make sure it has a good charge on it using a known good charger before you try anything.

I have a TomTom Go 910 and I had the same problem. I thought the problem was with the GO 910 but it turned out to be with the computer instead. The GO 910 seems to corrupt the USB driver files on the computer over a period of time when you connect it to your computer to update it or for whatever reason you connect to your computer. To repair the USB driver files on the computer, right click on My Computer and in the menu that opens up select Manage. In the Computer Management window that opens up select Device Manager from the left side of the Computer management window. Then in the right lower side of the window (you might have to scroll down) you will see Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Click the + sign to expand the Bus Controllers. Start at the bottom of the longer lines that you see and right click on it. In the selection that opens up left click on uninstall. Starting from first of the longest lines at the bottom, uninstall all of the USB drivers. Sometimes they will reinstall themselves before you can get them all uninstalled, but if you keep at it you will be able to get them all uninstalled and then restart your computer. When the computer restarts you will see messages that the computer has found new hardware. Then after the computer is on for a few minutes you will see messages that your new hardware is installed and ready to use. If the USB driver files were corrupted this will reinstall them with the correct drivers and you can connect your TomTom to Update it or for whatever reason. Also when you do this make sure that you don't have any USB devices connected to your computer until you are done, then you can connect your TomTom.

Connect it to the dock and your PC usb. Go to my computer and copy all of the files in the removable disk that appears when you plug it in. Save them to a safe place on your computer.
Go to
http://www.tomtom.com/ click 'Support' where you will find repair tools and guides. If anything goes wrong then copy and paste your backed up files back into the removable drive and overwrite.

Tomtom 910 will not connect to computer
Had a similar problem with my GO 930, i.e. it would not connect to the PC. As several people have suggested, it appears to be a problem with the docking station connection. I found, by trial and error, that this works for my system (so far, every time):
Remove GO from docking station.
Switch on and allow to boot up.
Place FIRMLY in docking station
The Go should now recognise that it is linked to a PC and will ask if you wish to connect.
Proceed as normal.
As mentioned, my sytem is a 930, so this may not work for 910s.
