I had a similar problem. I replaced all the ink cartridges and cleaned the printer.  I checked the nozzles to be sure that they were clean and cleaned the area where the cartridges set.  It took a little while but my printer is working again.  Mine makes a clicking sound after you push the copy button but still pulls the paper through.  Does yours pull the paper through at all?

Canon MP530 Makes Grinding Noise when printing starts

The grinding sound is only prior the first page printing. If printing for example 10 pages, prior to the very first page there is a very loud (almost scary) grinding sound like the print head is indexed wrongly and it is slipping the cog and belt or something. But only prior to starting this first page of printing.

It has been this way since I purchased the machine and perhaps I should have taken it back right away but didn't. Now I think I'm stuck.

I've tried the auto-align feature. No help. Have you seen this before and maybe know some tips I might try?

Thanks much,

Joe

I had this same problem and called tech support. Instead of sending a new printer they had me

1 remove print Cartridges
2 remove print head
3 replace print head
4 replace print Cartridges
5 unplug power from the wall

This seemed to fix the problem.....for me anyway.....for now.

hope it helps

HI Guys 6A00 error usually cant't be fixed according to the service centre, I was lucky and actually bought an extended warranty, the service centre said that the MP530 are a good printer and worth fixing as they don't see many at all compared to other models and other brands. There was a broken piece of hardware that something to do with the print carriage. cheers vailey

Error 1681 more than one Cyan cartridge installed

My Cyan ink cartridge was low so I installed a new one.  Now my Mac gives me error 1681 more than one cyan cartridge is installed-and I can't print anything.  Please help me solve this problem.

I have the same issue as well - I just open the printer, pop out the cyan cartridge, and reinsert it (the same one). This generally works - sometimes I need to do it once or twice. I figure I'll be patient and keep doing this until I a) finish the cyan ink cartridge, b) replace it out of annoyance, or c) through the printer out the window in total frustration.

Interesting to hear about "faulty" cartridges though - I shell out for the "authentic" Canon cartridges which you would think would be reliable - maybe I should switch to using the imitation ones if I'm going to have issues with them anyway...?

Canon MP530 U052 Error

The printer carritage is new, however, I'm kept getting the U052 error and cannot print. Is the printer computer chips damaged? How to solve this problem? Please help.
Many many thanks.

The dreaded U052 error means that the 'chip' fitted to the Cartridge is not responding .. Canon (like all printer mfgs) makes all it's profit from selling Ink .. so they fit these chips to try to prevent you refilling or using a 'compatible' replacement cartridge

You have to move the chip from the Canon cartridge to the 'compatible' and (it seems) the chips are particularly sensitive to static / damage .. many people end up blowing the chips during the swap over .. or even when fitting the original genuine cartridges to a brand new unit for the first time ...

If the unit is brand new, take it back and demand a replacement ... if you have just swapped over the chip onto a compatible cartridge, you can try buying a genuine Canon cartridge (which will have a new chip) = hopefully that will do the trick

NB. I have seen some suggestions that canon's have a 'Service Mode' that allows you to disable the cartridge chip checking and allow you to print no matter what .. however I've never found any details ... perhaps some-one else has the details ??

error is inner cover is open.

we cannot take print on canon mp530.after change the catridge this massage is appearing on display. " inner cover is open."

The "inner cover" can be seen if you open the paper output door, which you have to do to open the "printer cover" to get inside the machine and install the ink cartridges. The inner cover is a black bar right inside here. Push it up firmly enough , and it will snap up.

Sai.
