IPOD SHUFFLE NOT RECOGNIZED
I had the same problem where my shuffle just turned off as if it ran out of battery power, and when i tried to plug it in the computer it wouldnt recognise it or i would get an unknow device error. I tried many of the 5r as much as i could but didnt work. Then finally yesterday i tried something new. I pluged the ipod into the computer and left it pluged in to the usb port and i noticed that every time i would lift the ipod from the dock (not all the way) that the light would blink green one time. So what i did was i positioned the ipod back on the dock then lifted it until the green light blinked and i turned it on, and it works now, the battery is charged. However i havent tried to plug it back in the computer to see what happens but i can listen to my music now.
2nd gen ipod shuffle non-responsive
Step 1: Like all electronic devices, iPods sometimes freeze and become unresponsive. Sometimes iPods lock up when they're dropped on the ground or come in contact with water, but less destructive accidents may also cause them to stop working. All versions of the iPod have a way to reset their hardware should they stop playing music or refuse to turn off. Check the "Hold" switch on the top case of your iPod to be sure it isn't activated. An iPod will appear frozen and unresponsive if this feature is activated. A lock symbol will appear on your iPod's screen if it is in Hold mode. Switch the "Hold" button on and off once. Place one finger on the "Menu" button and another on the center button. Press both buttons at the same time and hold them for up to 8 seconds. Release the "Menu" and center buttons once the Apple logo appears on your iPod's screen. Try releasing the buttons and pressing and holding them a second time if the logo does not appear, as it can sometimes take several tries to reset a severely frozen iPod. Press and hold the top button and the center "Home" button on a frozen and unresponsive iPod touch to reset it. Hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds and wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen, then release the buttons. Connect your iPod to its powerblock or a computer if it is still frozen. Wait 5 minutes and then try to reset it. Sometimes an iPod can appear frozen when its battery runs out and just needs a few minutes of power to start working again.
I just bought it and can't set it up?
The iPod Shuffle is one of the smallest MP3 players available. But with no screen and no buttons it is easy to see why you may find it difficult to use and, indeed, set up. In order to set the iPod Shuffle up, the first and most important thing that you should have is the latest version of iTunes running on your computer. Once you have this, and have followed a few steps, setting up the iPod Shuffle is really not too challenging. Connect to the Internet and download the latest version of iTunes from the iTunes website.
http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download/ Plug your iPod into your computer's USB port using the USB lead provided with your iPod Shuffle. Create a name for your iPod and type it into the "Name" box in the iPod setup window that appears on your screen. Check, or leave blank depending on how you wish to manage your iPod, the check boxes next to "Automatically sync songs to my iPod" and "Enable VoiceOver" below the "Name" box on the screen. Click on the "Done" tab in the bottom right of the screen when you have finished. Leave "Automatically sync songs to my iPod" unchecked and import songs manually by clicking on the "Music" header in the left-hand column and dragging the songs you want on your iPod into your named iPod file in the left hand-column, underneath "Devices." Alternatively, click in the "Music" tab and sync your songs by checking the boxes by specific artists, playlists and genres. Click on the "Apply" button in the bottom right-hand corner once you have chosen your settings. Click on the "Sync" tab in the bottom right corner when you have selected the music you wish to add if you have decided to add songs manually. Eject your iPod by clicking on the upward-pointing arrow to the right of your iPod's symbol underneath the "Devices" header on the left-hand side of the screen once it has finished syncing. Unplug your USB lead when the "OK to Disconnect" bar has finished loading at the top of the screen. Hope it helps.
My shuffle is not playing
It could be the headphone jack has broken inside the player. You can have it repaired, or replace it. Whichever is cheaper.
My i pod wount charge what do i do
The first step is to check wether its the battery or the device itself. Simply connect the device to the charger and if it works while connected then all you have to do is replace the battery. A kit to do this may be purchased herehttp://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Replacement-Battery-Screwdriver-Tools-iPod-Shuffle-2nd-Gen-2-ZVRB137-/300641221309?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item45ff9cfabd#ht_1374wt_1014Otherwise you need to get a completely new device.
