first try something else in the input you are using like a dvd or something else, if this works then check ps3 to see if cables are ok, try also on another tv, make sure you are on HD or standard viewing.

it displays a msg so its not the pwr.
it sounds like its not recieving a signal.

It can't be done. The DVD remote will be single frequency for that device only and the LG remote for that LG Blu Ray (or series) only. Companies don't make cross-control between makers easy. The only exception is cable and satellite boxes to allow their remote to also control the television.
