E 15 is "ink cartridge is not installed". If you have installed ink cartridges may be one of them is defective.First make sure the ink cartridges is correctly for this model printer.If this OK replace cartridges one by one.

We all as a canon printer consumer is needed to use Pro dot ink to refill. Please remove your cartridge and clean up the cartridge head tightly by soft/toilet paper and replace again. If it doesn't work clean it again and again... thanks

I think Cartridge haves a compatibility problem or issue and can not be detected by the printer.I think you should reinstall cartridge....***If you need any technical help on printer then you can reach at here

just reset your printer eeprop by software.type generaltool for canon mp160 and googlee it.run software,connect your printer and reset your printer eeprom.

What you need to do to remedy this is to use the software that came with your printer to allign the ink head.Your may find the option to allign the ink head by entering into Microsoft Windows control panel, followed by double clicking Printers and Faxes.Then right click your Canon MP160 printer and click properties, some-times the options are there.Take care!Norman-Wynne Damstra

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken .

E42 I believe is a scanner error. Try first to switch it off for 30 minutes and try. Else re-attach the ribbon cables of the scanner and try again.

If error still persist then do a factory reset as per below

1) Switch off the printer

2) Press and hold the Stop/Reset button while switching on the printer.

3) With the Power LED lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.

4) Release the Power button and the Stop/Reset button that will put the printer in service mode. Just wait for the menu selection.

5) When the LED lights in green, press Stop/Reset button to specified number of time(s)
according to the Legend below.

0 time Green Power off
1 time Orange Service pattern print
2 times Green EEPROM print
3 times Orange EEPROM reset
4 times Green Waste ink counter reset See waste ink counter reset procedures below.

Yes you can cancel the maintenance process of your printer..just do this steps 1. Click the start menu on the left side of the taskbar then click control panel 2. On the control panel click devices and printers 3.double click your printer icon 4. on the printer window right click the documents you want to be stop printing the chose cancel print.. after doing these steps you can start now scanning. that's all! hope it will help you

Use the paper option, BUT you need special inkjet transparency film. If you use normal transparency film the ink cannot dry properly and will streak.

maybe some paper that was jam before still have a part inside, if not try different type of papers.

Here's how to replace ink cartridge.

Make sure the printer is turn on. Place your fingers under the LED control panel and lift the scanning unit. The cartridges inside the printer will automatically slide to the left, for easy access. Remove the empty cartridge by pushing the front of the cartridge downward. It will snap out of its cradle. Pull out the cartridge and replace the new ink cartridge. Insert the new cartridge. With the front of the cartridge tilted down, push the back into the cradle. Lift the front upward, and the cartridge will snap into place.
