HDMI Audio does not appear to be installed. HP PAvillion DV 9260
i messed with this for days, trying to install older versions of nvidia and installing drivers but nothing seemed to work. so i finally read the manuel to my hp dv9500. they address this in like the third page. it says in order to have sound through hdmi u must change your speadek settings to digital.
go into control panal, click on hardware and sound, select sound, and under the playback tab select the digital output and set it as default. you wont get any sound out of the computer speakers but presto!!!! it plays sound out of my tv with the hdmi cable its great!!!!
Slow running of window vista
There are many things that might cause your PC to run slowly or restart at time and then. It could be a fragmented disk; fragmented registry; a virus, Trojan, or spy ware; high CPU and/or utilization due to too many programs running; high disk I/O; or something else. To check your CPU and memory utilization, run Task Manager. You can start Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and then clicking on the Task Manager Button. In Task manager, click on the Performance tab and check CPU Usage and PF Usage. PF Usage is an indicator of memory usage. If one or both of these is high, click on the Processes tab, and sort the columns by CPU or Memory to see what processes are consuming the resource. If you are not sure what the process "Image name" is for, Google the name and you should find what the process is for. If your CPU and memory usage are reasonable, then you may have a different issue. Even if you running anti-virus software, it may be beneficial to scan your PC with another scanner to check for viruses. Here is a few good virus scanners that you can run to check your PC: http://c74b6qq6lbo8zlievtv2q810g1.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=DMWDH6W3
Cd/dvd drive won't stay shut
I have the dv9000z. If I do NOT push the DVD drive tray all the way in until it CLICKS shut, then it OPENS again after 1-2 seconds. This is normal. I have found that most times when I close the DVD tray drive, I am not pushing it in far enough, because the top of the DVD tray is rubbing against the laptop's case. If I just press down VERY SLIGHTLY and push the DVD tray in, the tray will fully close and CLICK shut. This works for me. Good luck.
Dv9000 overheating.
I had this exact problem occur. I'll tell ya how I solved it. I bought a Belkin Cooling Platform to put my laptop on. I know this isn't an ideal solution, but for me it has worked.

Boot manager is missing HP pavilion dv6 notebook windows 7
This sounds like a common issue. The boot manager file "NTLDR" Can become corrupt or go missing due to a few situations.
1) Shut down improperly
2) Virus
3) Bad hard disk
4) Windows being windows.
Too fix this simply use a windows 7 cd and boot from it.
Choose the Repair option and let it do its thing. If i recall there's also a repair startup option you can use aswell.
Windows repair usually fixes the problem but if that doesnt work you can also put the hard disk into another computer and copy over replacement boot loader files.
""
ntldr, the main boot loader itself
NTDETECT.COM, required for booting an NT-based OS, detects basic hardware information needed for successful boot
""
Try that. The windows repair usually works but if you have to use the alternative and it doesnt work it could be your MBR. Windows repair also fixes this but theres an old command you can run from the dos shell of the cdrom "mbrfix or fixmbr" That will take care of it.
Good Luck :)

In both occasions an expert should dissasemble your laptop to check whether the problem is exactly.
Laptop turns off intantly, when I unplug the charging cord
For those of you having the problem of a HP laptop shutting off when you unplug the charger and your battery is fully charged, I can help you. There is nothing wrong with the laptop, battery, or computer, it is a power management setting. If you go to display properties, select the screen saver tab, then click the "power" button, in the power schemes field is a drop down window, click on it and select "Rixane Power Scheme", it is a power switching utility that quickly switches between AC and Battery when the power cable/charger is plugged in or unplugged while the laptop is on. If you have it set to "always on" it will shut off when you pull the power cord, even if the battery is charged. This will also happen on many non-HP laptops, if you don't have a HP laptop or there is not a "Rixane" option available, select the "Portable/Laptop" power scheme. Hope this helps!
Hp laptop has broken hinge
If you are talking about the external case, you have a few options:
1) Call up HP and tell them your issue and they'll probably ask you for an exorbitant amount of money to do it for you (you'll be missing your laptop for a while too)
2) WHAT I RECOMMEND is buy a pair of replacement hinges from ebay (you can look up guides/info on this online) for 20$ (will vary depending) and spend 30 minutes to install it yourself. Depending on the break, you will probably have to open up the case, so use caution, but it should be rather accessible so no expertise is really needed. (you might acquire dust inside your PC if you do this, google effects/how to remedy online)
