Did you create a backup disk?? If not reboot your computer and hit f8 at the acer splash screen.. you will find a menu with multiple choices, choose the one that says restore to the last known good configuration. You will be given a list of dates.. choose the one closest to todays and your computer will be restored to an earlier time. Hi there, don't reboot now. Just try these, hope after that you didn't face this problem again. Please follow the steps.
1. Restart the PC and repeatedly hit F8 until you have a menu in front of you.
2. You will find few option there. Just select these mention option " Last know good Configuration ...." use by your up/down arrow on your keyboard.


3. Press enter there.
4. your will see the system asking you for which OS you want to use. If you have only one OS then just press ENTER there or select the OS and Enter.
Now your laptop start booting. Hope, now you not faced the message. If you not satisfied then ask me. I am ready to solve this problem.

To adjust the brightness of your screen just press and hold Fn button while pressing the right arrow key to increase the brightness and Fn + left arrow key to decrease.

A virus has corrupted your operating system. If you have Windows XP, you will need to go to the manufacturer's website and order the restore disk.

If you have Vista or 7, you can tap F8 once the computer starts and choose to repair the computer using advanced options. You will have the option to restore to factory default but this will erase everything on your computer and set it back to the day you purchased it.

If you have data, the best thing is to take it to get repaired as they can save the data at this point.

If you have a BOOT CD then try to boot and go to windows.
Or you can use windows setup CD but go for repair only.
For the future it is a good idea to INSTALL WINDOWS in a USB mini drive and boot the computer from USB. You have to go to BIOS and set USB default drive.
It is a good idea to clone your HD in a CD.

I'd do a couple of other things first. 1) Download and run CCleaner to eliminate temp files 2) Go to TrendMicro.com and run their free AntiVirus scan
If that doesn't speed things up, then look at restoring.

If you never tested the recovery discs, they may be damaged.
You will need afresh install from a windows disc if thats the case
