Most units are designed to "autoplay" audio CDs when they are inserted. When they fail to do so, it could be because the CD is dirty or scratched and was bot recognized, the media player that you are using to play the CD was not in a state that it could autoplay the CD, or there could be a problem with the Disk drive or PC itself. Whenever a CD fails to play upon insertion, go to the "My Computer" icon (win7 or below) and see if the CD/DVD drive shows a disk inserted. If so, clicking on the drive will often start the playback.

The simplest solution is to run Disk Cleanup as follows....
1. click start then hi-light All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click on Disk Cleanup
2. wait while Disk Cleanup calculates how much space you will be able to free on ACER (C:)
3. in the Disk Cleanup for ACER (C:) under Files to delete:
4. click to set the check-boxes of the groups of files you wish to delete
5. at bottom of the list is the Total amount of disk space you gain
6. click OK button and on Disk Cleanup for ACER (C:) pop-up, click the Yes button
7. redo the preceding, clicking on the More Options tab to free more disk space from other areas.

Hi there.
There are 2 ways you can eject the DVD tray,
1st, double click on computer, right click on the DVD icon and select "eject" from the sub menu.
2nd, find a paperclip and straighten it, have a close look at the DVD near the eject button, you will find a small hole, poke the paperclip in and manually eject the tray.

I just fixed this problem by doing the following:

Hard power-off (hold the power button until the laptop turns off)
Unplug the AC adaptor
Remove the battery
Plug in the AC adaptor
Hold ctrl and turn the power on. You should arrive at a black screen.
Hard power-off again, then turn the power on.

To reset the bios in an acer 5100 you need to remove your DDR2 memory sticks, below you can see "j2", make contact in this jumper turn on your laptop and your bios would be reset

Do u c any info on the screen when u first power on? If u do it could easily b a failed hard drive. Press f2 at the same time as u power on to enter the bios, there it should list devices in the laptop, if u select the hard drive it should tell u if it's ok. you should also make sure the hard drive is selected as first boot device.

A quick search on eBay suggests they cost from about 20 English pounds, try to make sure you use PayPal and make sure the seller offers some sort of warranty. Look at previous customers reports of them to see how they have faired.

Open up your unit,... By hitting F12 key button the boot menus are appearing on your screen, or Hit the F2 button, when the C-MOS setting is displayed... Use the up & down arrow to Advanced set up and you will now see the boot menus.

No, contact acer tech support for further advice, as i believe you can use a repair disk created on another PC as long as it is win 7 32 or 64bit in this case it will be 64bit.

nothing just install the drivers of bluetooth and u will get rid of it

my laptop is no charge . the plugged in .when the plugged in laptop the laptop is running.when the laptop is plugged out the laptop is off .my laptop charging is 13%,

<Fn> + <F7> Turns the internal touchpad on and off. You might be touching the touchpad while you type, yurning it off will help in that case.

Go into the BIOS settings at boot up. Disable the option to boot from network, that must solve it :)
