i bought an acer aspire 5610z and when i turned it on the screen stays black. can you tell me whats going on or what i can do to solve this problem
FIX:
I have an acer aspire 5520G and i can relate all too well. It worked fine for about 3weeks (from brand new!!) then one day the screen went blank while trying to boot. I managed to fix it and it worked fine for almost 2years, untill i went to sell it and encoutered the problem again.
The Fix: this is the fix that worked for me; firstly the problem; this seems to be a big problem with acers for some reason, and there are a few variations or confusions about it when people describe their fault. My fault is that when my laptop is off, i press the power button and the green light comes on, a fan starts up and there is hope, but then the fan changes speed slightly and it stays like that indefinatley, without the screen having ever come on, and i mean the computer is virtually dead except the power light and fan, you cannot press ctrl-alt-del or see the screen from an angle or with a torch. the only thing you can do is hold the power button and force a shutdown, so some deep seeded hardware is still working, but it seems the display never starts and the BIOS never loads.
My first fix - i managed to start my computer by pressing the power button, then as fast as i can (hold function button) repeatadly press F5 and F6 ie. with the function button held you are pressing [Black out screen/Restore Screen] and [Switch Monitors]. this usually starts my laptop on the first or second attempt. The first time i did this i was playing around with external monitor cables and connections, and switching monitors and the problem spontaneously fixed itself as mysteriously as it had arrived.
Second time was extremely frustrating, i could still load my computer by pressing F5 and F6 combos but could not get it to become self sufficent. I upgraded my BIOS with the Flash Updater from acer (i found it on the net) and after the second boot attempt, windows vista installed some memory drivers, and the problem was resolved.
if this hadnt worked i would have tried the memory battery fix as above, as my problem definatly seemed bios related.
Hope this helps someone from loosing their hair.

I am having a problem with my touchpad which is not working correctly. When i click using the touchpad, it is not working. So, I need to click on the left button below the touch pad every time i want to click open something.Pls advice. Thanks
If u are having Synaptics Driver....then
check that Tapping is enabled...
follow steps to know that:
Open Control Panel..
Now Open Mouse
Now click on tab "Device Settings"
then Click on "Settings"
a new window popups
Click on "Tapping" which is listed on the corner of the window
Now after clicking on it...on the right...check that there is "Tapping Enabled or not"
if not...click on that White box...
and Apply
then ok
Done :)

Either my new usb 8gb flash drive fooled the comp into thinking it was a driver or something or when I tried to turn on computer from sleep I hit the arcade deluxe and something downloaded and then the computer hybernated and now it won't boot up. I went through all the system recovery options. I don't have any drivers to install or media to install a drivr but when I push ok it goes to system 32 and wants me to open a file? It has file type as Setup Information. This is the block below File Name: which I don't know what to put here. I did the Alt F-10 on start up and was able to get to restore screen for my CD I made when I first got the comp, but it states D2D32 mismatch error. So I tried recover from factory setting and it gives the same error. I had gone to command prompt and it shows X:\windows\system32> I don't know if I should try anything here either. rstui.exe didn't help here either. I pushed the F2 setup and I could enable F12 but that didn't help me either...Any suggestions would help.
This a very common error. I too have suffered from this but after about 15 hours of fighting with it.. I fix it. I could not use the ALT + F10 keys as I would get the D2D32 Type Mismatch Error. So lucky me when I got my laptop from acer I made the recovery DVD's just in case. But to my suprise Booting from the DVD disk also would fail with the D2D32 Type Mismatch error. I even try maken new recovery disk with some luck. the new disk worked one time. But I started to run the recovery on disk one and when it asked for disk 2 I hit the power button thinking it would still boot, as I didnt want to wait for the recovery process to complete. So I ended up with a acer laptop with no o/s installed and was not able to use the Alt + F10 as explaned above or Boot using the recovery DVD's... so how did I fix this little set back... simple
I broke out the windows xp install Boot cd and Booted my system with that. let it run all the way to the partation/Format section on windows xp setup. I left the partation as it was and formatted it with the quick option. BE VERY CAREFUL AT THIS STEP... MAKE SURE YOU DONT FORMAT THE WRONG PARTATION THE 9 GIG OR 10 GIG IS WRONG. IT WAS DRIVE LETTER F: ON MY SYSTEM. JUST MAKE SURE IT IS DRIVE LETTER C: THAT YOU FORMAT...After it was done with the format I powerd down the system and tried to Boot from the Recovery DVD and it worked. No D2D32 Type Mismatch error. "{ But I let it finish this time around"} So to keep it simple. all you need to do is keep the partation the same, just format it and it your recovery will work. both ALT + F10 and /or the DVD"S Boot. it the ALT+F10 by chance dont work... theres a quick fix also. you need to files called MBRwrWin.exe and RTMBR2.bin and they have to be on the root of drive c:...{Root - just copy them to C: } and then from a command prompt with Adminastration {right click cmd } and type MBRwrWin install Rtmbr2.bin <Enter> ALT + F10 is now ready and fixed...
if you need help let me know or just to give some feed back
email me at [email protected]
Good luck it works. I just went from on os installed to vista... with factory recovery working like the day I got it....

i'v purchased acer aspire 4730Z laptop, from the specification I came to know that the bluetooth is attached with and keyboard have one key marked bluetooth. at the time of utility installation it shows no bluetooth device and after installation if i press the key it shows "NO DEVICE DETECTED". I wanna know (i) wheather my laptop have bluetooth device which will help me to transfer my data from mobile to laptop via bluetooth or (ii) the key is for my easy use when i will attach a bluetooth device it will activate with a single key press............... pls help me by giving the information..
The 4730Z does NOT have bluetooth. Check the specs on it from acer's website. The reason for the buttons are that it share much hardware with the 4930 which does have bluetooth. You will need to add a bluetooth device if you want bluetooth.
Once again, the a4730 doesn't have bluetooth in it's stock form.
