you can check in device manager whether there is a Webcam in the system

You can take the laptop apart, and try to tighten the screws of the hinge. But i think the hinge is worn. You can try if the warranty covers it.

Hirens really works and is free. Burn to CD and follow instructions. Tested, but had to do twice.Lost Windows password:

• Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode. XP only.
• Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
• Reformat computer.
• Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html
• Free software option would be Hirens Boot CD. This one is command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ Must follow instructions exactly.

By default your webcam is not switched on, it will only come on if you tell it to generally, if you are using video chat etc.

But you can disable the camera by right clicking on My Computer and select "Manage" then click on Device Manager. Click on "Imaging Devices" You should see the webcam in the list that comes up. right click on it and select "disable".

When you restore your system back to the new factory settings, it will wipe your hard drive clean and do a fresh install of the operating system with the original factory setting.

To start this process, unplug all extra devices from your computer

(printers, external hard drives, etc.) as these can interfere with the system restore.

Starting with Windows XP, most systems with issued a system recovery disk in case of any problems with the factory installation.

Check the documentation and disks that came with your computer to determine if you have one of these system disks.

If you do have a copy of this disk, place it in your CD/DVD drive and restart your computer.

If you do NOT have a copy of this disc, skip to step 3 for further instructions.

Once you restart your computer, a screen will appear with the words.

Press Any Key to Boot From CD. Once you press a key, a screen will come up containing instructions to format your hard drive and restore the original factory settings.

Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the installation.

Once the restore is complete, remove your Recovery CD from the disk drive so that your computer does not try to boot from the CD again.

Restart your computer to complete the restore.

3. If you do not have a System Restore disk, then your computer should have a recovery partition on your hard drive, separate from the main partition of the disk.

Unplug all external devices and restart your computer.

When the loading screen comes on with the Windows logo, press Alt+F10 together five times.

This will bring up the system restore menu.

Follow the on-screen prompts to restore your computer back to the factory settings

The card was probably corrupted (occurs frequently if the card is pulled out while being written to), you will need to format it (go to my computer right click on the device, select format and click start)

You are sure you have a webcam, right? In the manual, it shows the webcam as optional. Is a webcam listed on the box, the white label with the serial #, that the netbook came in?

If you do have one, you have to turn it on first. The manual, pg 2-9, tells you how to turn it on. Press the Fn+F6 keys at the same time(or while holding down the Fn key, press the F6 key) to turn the webcam on and off.

The Acer Aspire 4730 models DO NOT include any bluetooth hardware. The button is there because it shares much of its setup and hardware with the 4930 models which do have bluetooth. So, as the machine tells you, there is no bluetooth device to turn on and off. Check the specs from Acer's website and you will see no mention of bluetooth. You will need to add a bluetooth device. The simplest would be one that plugs into your USB port. Other than that little issue, the 4730 is a very nice notebook for the price.

If the computer will boot into windows you can choose this option from the Acer E-Recovery management software.  If it will not then use alt+f10 during the boot.   Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/larry_1fe25e09c54eece2

acer aspire 5534 does not have a webcam..some models of acer aspire do but acer aspire 5543 does not. I have the same laptop and I am trying to figure out the same thing. The acer aspire 5543 has a webcam cover where a webcam can be put but it does not actually have a webcam itself.

Reinstall the webcam driver. You can download it from here - http://www.laptop-software.com/acer-software/acer-aspire-5332-windows-vista-7-drivers/

If still the same issue exists, check "Device Manager" (to open Device Manager right click on the "My Computer" or "Computer" icon then click properties, then click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager) the webcam should be under "Imaging Devices". If it is not listed or detected, that means there might be a problem with the driver not properly installed or there is a problem on the webcam itself.
