Ribbon breaks on those older models are usually traced back to only a couple of things. 1. The ribbon-type may be set incorrectly in the printer driver. The C30 and C30e color ribbon type if doing single- or dual-side printing in full-color is #044200 - YMCKO; the ribbon type if doing dual-side printing with full-color front and black-only back is #044210 - YMCKOK. Open the driver, then "Printing Preferences", select the "Device Options" tab and verify that the ribbon type setting matches what you're using. Note that you can only make a change to the setting if you have sufficient (Admin) Windows privileges. 2. There is a mechanical issue with the printer, where an o-ring is broken, or the head-lift motor has gone out. Either is very bad, as the printer has long been out of production and parts are no longer available. (But you can contact us for a replacement - new or refurbished!) Good luck!

Is there a way to get in and lube the gears or something?

There are no lubrication points on these printers. They were discontinued many years ago, and are out of support by the manufacturer. It squeeks because it is old and worn, and the only permanent solution will be to replace it with a current model.

Solution to loud noises:

Check the ribbon cartridge and ensure that the cleaning roller is properly installed and rolls smoothly

inside the cartridge. Then check the plate underneath the cleaning roller and verify the 4 pins are seated properly.

Solutions to blurry prints:

1. Make sure the printer has the latest firmware via the web. >> Click Here << to download the latest firmware (Look for "Persona C30e Firmware_Windows/Linux 4.3.0.1 "). The firmware upgrade file is packed in zip file. Extract it to a directory of your choice.

>> Click Here << for an instruction on how to upgrade the firmware. When being prompted to locate the "upgrade file", browse to where you extracted the firmware upgrade file.

2. Calibrate the ribbon sensor. If you have completed these 2 steps and the printer still prints out faded or light cards,

3. Try a new power supply. Part# (E000480). Note: Please verify the proper power supply is being used.

you can try the older version, but no guarantee it will work.

the new fargo printers coming out will support windows 7.

Download the latest copy of the C30 firmware, Fargo created a fix by sending more power to the ribbon sensor. After downloading the new firmware, calibrate the ribbon covering the printer the best you can from light.

the most common problem could be the rollers need replacing or a problem with the ribbon sensor. We do repairs and also repair under warranty, How old is your printer?

Fargo pro L card printer is not recognised by new

You have not mentioned the Operating system of your PC.

You must be having a USB cable which connects your printer to the PC and mostly provided within your printer packaging.

Try to download the recent driver from the below mentioned link

In your device manager find if your USB ports in your are working perfectly and all desired drivers are already installed for your installed Operating System.

Connect your printer to pc and keep it in power off condition

install the driver

Switch on your printer when your installation process will ask you to do so, it will automatically detect the printer and install the needed driver.

Also install the diagnostic Utility for future maintenance process

FARGO c30 Won't print, gives following error

You have not mentioned the application you are using.

This is probably not a problem with the printer. this is mostly possible due to macros in the application through which you are printing the cards

try to find out if any patches available for your application.

Also try to install your application again after doing uninstall of the same.

Hope this will definitely solve your problem. Do remeber to run microsoft update for your operating system

Try using the cable as provided along with your printer.

try to download the driver for XP and Vista from manufacturer website from this link

It sounds like a printhead pixel has burned out. The only fix for it is to replace the printhead.
