Sp-R4212 Plasma no picture keeps changing channels

When the menu starts rolling, take the remote out of the room to see if it's the remote causing the problem.

if it's not, check for bad capacitors on the boards.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the bulging or leaking capacitors, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l0AUj8QUkg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7b_nTaZYcU&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

My Samsung flat screen tv won't turn on and it

There's a couple transistors on the Power Supply board that are probably bad. On mine, the solder joint was bad on the bottom side of the board that pointed me at those transistors in particular. Part number is FQPF9N50C. Also, you could get a refurb or new power supply board of ebay or send your board in for service (also on ebay).Or there's a "repair kit" you can get that contains 4 transistors and a couple caps I think. If you are an electronics junky and like soldering stuff, that would be the way to go... I just ordered the two transistors off ebay for like $6.

My tv will start to power on and then will shut

Hi, Ashley. I hope I can help you out today.

What it sounds like is happening, is that one or more of your capacitors has failed, so the remaining ones are trying to compensate and still function properly, thats why it is slow to start up.
Capacitors are like little booster batteries that get the tv a kick start to get it going.
Well, unfortunately they burn out sometimes, and when they do, they cause this exact kind of sluggish response to powering on the tv. It takes that many tries because your not getting a full boost all at once. The capacitors look like little cans, or batteries almost, standing up and down.
The damaged ones will either look like a leaky battery, or be split down the side, or have the top bulged up, or some even pop like a little balloon. They will leave a wet residue on the circuit board as well.
Although they "can" be fixed as a do-it-yourself project, I would suggest that you take it to your local Fry's or BestBuy. They both have specially trained techs for this specific repair.
Also, know that depending on how many capacitors are shot, and how much labor will be involved in the repairs, it may cost as much for a new tv as it is to fix the old one.

Horizontal lines high and low

Are the bright flecks of red color where it is supposed to be black? That could the one of the sustain boards going out also could cause the horizontal lines too depending on the board - worst case scenario - would be a bad ribbon cable on the panel itself - best case scenario - plug the tv in to an outlet that is by itself to isolate interference as a possibility.

Thanks,

It may be detecting shorted circuits so it goes into shutdown/restart mode, or it may have failed power supply.

Capacitors are only one problems, viewing capacitors inspections are best and easiest ways.U want to test it with a multi Voltmeter look for capacitors Microferet and voltges each one, just test it.U have no skills or trouble shooting experience in electronics devices.Well no amount testing of capacitors, will not solved the tv problems, could be any things in the power supply board is slicely variable voltages could cause power problems.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I have this Samsung but theres a wash and dryer

hi,
you can try using a good quality surge strip on the tv. if that doesent do it you could try a different outlet on the other side of the room, or try using an outlet from a different room(long extension cord) if that doesent do it you may have to move the tv to another wall.

Tv powers on for about

How good are you with a soldering iron? This problem on this TV is usually the faulty connections on the SMPS. Most likely all the parts on the board are good but sometimes ICQ805 is also faulty(most likely it is just the solder connections). You can try heating one area of the board at a time with a hair dryer and see if it stays on for longer. Sometimes you have to heat then freeze to prove the malfunction. IMPORTANT: If you are not good with a soldering iron or don't have a steady hand, LET A PROFESSIONAL DO THE REPAIR. The SMPS is a very delicate circuit and can be easily damaged. If you do this repair incorrectly you will be forced to replace the whole board.
