How to remove bios battery from a satellite a305

Heres a step-by-step guide on disassembling a Satellite A305. You should find access to the bios battery somewhere along the lines of this tutorial.

Remember to be very careful, and make sure to ground yourself or wear an anti-static wristband because the parts you're gonna be dealing with are very electrically sensitive.

Have you tested laptop by plugging an external monitor either LCD or CRT monitor into laptop using the VGA input on the laptop.

This will at least determine if its realting the laptop LCD screen that is faulty ie. backlight, inverter or screen that is damaged or whether its your GPU / Motherboard thats the problem.

If you plug a monitor in and you get output to the external screen (Its relating to your screen and will likely be a backlight or inverter issue, although it could be a damaged screen or cabling issue to motherboard.)

Make sure you have monitor plugged in when laptop is off then power up laptop this will force GPU to output to External screen otherwise on most laptops you have to mess around with selecting output source ie. FN (Function Key) and a numeric key to flick between LCD laptop screen and external monitor.

Froze up last night, turned off, will not turn on

Try removing the laptop from A/C power, remove the battery, then hold the on/off switch in the ON position for ten seconds. Replace the battery, plug in to A/C and try booting. Laptop may be frozen in 'sleep' state; I have seen this problem with other Toshiba's before.

I HAV A TOSHIBA A-135 LAPTOP, THE SCREEN WENT

There are steps to 'change' the visual effects of the "Display." 1. Right click on "Desktop", click Personalize, click, Display Settings. 2. Identify, Monitor used? 3. Down (arrow) select Monitors' graphics. 4. Adjust, (low>high) resolution. 5. Select, Colors (16 bit>32bit), etc. 6. Click, Advanced Settings, click Properties ("check device status"). 7. Update Drivers (only if, necessary?) 8. Click on "List All Modes" select valid (modes) for the monitor. Note: Always click on the 'Apply', and 'OK' buttons after application changes for the process to take effect. 9. Restart "Computer". *Next go, to: Screen Saver, in the Screen Saver Settings change 'Power' settings. *Next go, to: Start Menu, click on Product Name: (Toshiba), click 'Utilities' click, Toshiba Assist, click 'Optimize' click,"Display"; change power on display. *Next go, to Control Panel, in Mobile PC, click; "Adjust commonly used mobility settings" (changes the following); Display brightness, and Connect Display. “I hope this Fix it!”
