Compaq presario v6000 laptop when switched on blue

It is the motherboard. The V6000, V2000 as well as the siblings in the HP line DV2000, DV6000, and DV9000 all have the same issue. In my opinion is from the oxidation of the motherboard contacts before the nVidia BallGridArray chips are hot air soldered to the board.

As the laptop heats and cools, these .014mm balls expand and contract. Where there is a poor solder pad, the solderball unsticks from the contact surface.

I have repaired 22+ in the month of October alone.

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer .

The LED light turn on but the screen doesnt

Power is on, but nobody is home….

This is a common problem I see a lot and there can be multiple problems here. First off, if you have lost the backlight on the LCD, you might not be able to see what is on the screen….LCD makers are making the panels very dark and if the light has failed it is very difficult to see what may be on the screen. Try shining a flashlight on the screen near the bottom and see if you can make out anything on it.
If not, attach the laptop to another monitor using the video output, you may have to toggle through the video outputs on the laptop by using the Fn key + one of the “F” keys….sometimes it is F4. If you see your desktop on the external monitor than your screen may have died but your video card is still good. In this case, change out the screen and inverter.
If you still can’t manage to see a display, then the other issues are a virus or malware that has changed the resolution to one the video card cannot process, in which case, the hard drive would have to be removed, attached to another computer and scanned to remove the bugs.
The video processor or video card has failed on the motherboard. If the computer has not been cleaned and has run hot, the processor can suffer significant damage that can result in this condition.
Work on simple first, until you get to complicated. In the end, worst case scenario is the main board has to be replaced.

My Compaq Presario V6000 will not power-up from ac

Have you had the AC Adapter checked? Even though the light may be green on the AC Adapter, there may not be enough voltage to actually charge the laptop or power up due to damage or burn-out. With an Ohm meter, you can test the AC Adapter to see if it's supplying enough voltage.

I would check the A/C Adapter first before replacing a motherboard on your PC which can be more expensive than purchasing a new AC Adapter.

If you are computer savvy and know how to replace the motherboard, you can save money by installing it yourself. If you do not know how to replace a motherboard on the laptop, then you have to tack on labor costs.

Another tidbit of information I found about this model laptop I am adding to this post that may help you:

As a further item I have just stumbled across a new program involving this series of laptop as well as the HP Pavillion DV2000/ DV6000 / DV9000 and the Compaq Presario V3000/V6000 series.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...77&lc=en&cc=us

This is a Warranty Enhancement program for all of these models addressing a variety of issues on these laptops.

Using this program I was just able to get a one time repair for our customer at a substantially reduced price, with us doing data backup and facilitating the repair for them.

Good luck!

When i turn on the laptop, the screen is bacl but

I experienced the same thing on my HP Dv6000 series notebook. Your compaq has the same mobo as mine. HP has a recall on certain items and your may be eligable. The extension is only for ONE year after the original ONE year warranty, so you have to take care of this in a timely manner. The recall is for the very issue you are having.

MY WORD OF ADVICE: I will be blunt, If you want this fixed, stop looking at the internet for answers, and call HP!!!!!! If you are too late, then you will have to replace the motherboard yourself!

I have seen this issue so many times and people do not listen! Take 10 mins to call HP and see if you are still eligable for the free fix.
If you are not eligable, they will tell you!

What has happened is the graphics card connector inside the laptop become hot and un-solders itself. The PC turns on but does not detect a graphics card so the display does nothing. Mine did the same thing until HP fixed it for FREE!

Check the link below and see if your model is listed.

Mine is a HP DV6000 (dv6045nr) and I luckily called with 3 days left on the extended warranty/recall HP put out.

Hope this helps and good luck! I hope your not too late! and please let me know what they say!

Wifi laptop will not print to printer - not a wifi printer

Check if the printer has a wireless option. Actually this issue is complex. First thing first, you can print wirelessly from your laptop within the WIFI range in a case that your printer do have wireless on in. It is impossible to print wirelessly from the wired printer through LAN.

One thing, I guess you don't have a wireless router. You need to have a wireless router like LINKSYS that is easy to setup then try to connect wirelessly to the wired printer. There I am not too sure if your can do a printing option from your laptop wirelessly.

Lastly, check if you have a ROUTER and need to set it up on your laptop and on the network LAN. You may now have a NETWORK printer in this regards. Thank you.

Do I need to add a phone line if I buy a fax

No ... you do not need a separate line. When you set your fax up, it will ask you if you have a dedicated line (no) or if you are sharing a line (yes) and how many rings do you want to have before the FAX answers.

I hope this answers your question
