If you Attack a External monitor does it work? Can you see the desktop on the external monitor? There are a few things to check, backlighting, Inverter board, the ribbon cable in the back of the monitor, the switch that controls the on/of when the lid is opened/closed, the monitor or graphics is gone/out. Remove the main battery and the power supply, allow several minutes to get rid of any residual charge, now plug the power supply adapter back in and press power "leave battery out" is there any change? if not! remove power supply, now! press and hold power for 60 seconds to reset the laptop. Next install main battery back in and the power supply adapter, power up! if no change, the motherboard is the problem.

did you try plug it into another wall out let or remove it from the power strip it's plug into and plug it directly into a wall out let.

When you say play DVDs you mean watch DVD movies? Assuming the drive is not broken you need to use the DVD app. You could use VLC Player which you can download. It's an orange traffic cone icon.

Could be it has overheated and the NVidea chip is damaged. No idea why they are called laptops as to put them on a lap blocks the ventilation and they will overheat.

I found out in Google that this tablet has Windows 8 on it. You can install Facebook on it by going to the "Microsoft Store". If it didn't install, check if your operating system is 8.1 Let me know if that helps.

try taking out the battery and unplugging the power cord from it and then holding down the power button for the count of 5 the long way 1 one thousand two one thousand ect.... this will drain back the power from the board and it just might boot after you plug everything back in again and try to power it back on
