Cover open
You have to take the whole lid off. There's a small white plastic thingy on the right side that touches something to tell the printer the lid is closed. Sometimes, it comes off. It's not attached very well. If you don't see it, then you might have to turn the printer upside down and shake it!

X3470 problem
Does this printer have memory card slots? Is there a memory card or flash disk attached? If so, remove the memory card or flash disk. The computer is attempting to boot off of these slots. To change it, go into your computers BIOS and disable boot from other device option.

I need help with getting my printer to read that I refilled the Cartridge!
There are many different tries I have read about & even suggested to people & tried my self. Most fail & I end up feeling bad. The truth about most printers one way or another they keep track of the cartridges. (They remember). Some have small chip & others keep track through software. If your going to re-fill your cartridges I suggest you keep three cartridges handy for each color. Mark them 1 2 3. As one emties use the next & so on. Never allow the ink to dry up in a cartridge & always store them standing up. If you lay them on their side the ink may dry at the nozzles. (Not Good). If you receive an error that a refilled cartridge needs replaced. Ignore it & see it still prints. It just may. Bottom line. Printers are cheep & theres a reason. I'll bet you already know why. You know it! Cause the ink cost more. Two replacements & you could have bought a new printer, maybe three. So Hansonkirk, for now buy your lexmark ink new & when it emties drop a refilled in. Keep your refilled cartridges in a cool dark place waiting it's turn.

"cartridge incorrect" message
Never throw out any receipts!!! A lesson my dear mum taught me a long time ago. You need to pay attention to what the printer is telling you. Incorrect cartridge error message could mean a clogged printhead, most people think they have cleaned properly but did you do it with proper cleaning solution. Was it a refilled cartridge or new one? Are you certain you did not accidentally touch the gold areas (printer points) as this can put oils and dirt or residue on the cartidge. Gently wipe both heads on cartridge very softly with a non perfumed baby wipe! Yes a baby wipe (people laugh at me until they see their printer go again!!!) Now try printing again. You can get rid of error message only when you fix the problem. If nothing helps, try uninstalling the printer and reinstalling with original operating disc. And yes, the printer cartridges can be faulty. Never dispose of your old receipts until you are virtually replacing the next cartridge. I keep all receipts for all costly items in a clear slip folder, or staple to original barcodes of box they came in. Did you try disconnecting usb cables to printer and reconnecting to reset it.

Cover tab broken on Lexmark X3470
Have you recovered the tab? All the tab does is interrupt a sensor beam between 2 points. Either glue it back on (epoxy or super glue, use sparingly on one side then apply and hold down until it sets, about a min. or tape a popsicle stick into the area where the tab rested. First feel around with the stick in the area until the printer responds. then fix it there.

How do i set the time on a lexmark x464
Usually you need to access the embedded web server on the printer by typing the IP address of the printer into your web browser address bar. This will open a window that will have all the settings available.
