Sceptre X42GV-Naga 42 in. LCD Television Questions & Answers
Power light turns blue, source light appears bright, then fades. Picture flashes on, then disappears, screen remains black.
Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

The screen goes black after a couple of secounds
Please read my guide first to find out if it is the backlights inverter, T-CON, or power supply or the main board.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

The picture goes out on the TV but the sound still
He was wrong... HDMI is just an audio/video format for high quality video and sound. That cable also contains the sound that goes with the picture. If it has sound but the picture is not there then the HDMI cable is probably OK. A simple way to trouble shoot that is to use a different input. For example Component Video. You will need a different cable for that. It only contains the picture (three wires), then change the input to component video. That's a menu setup. If that restores normal operation then your video is just fine and probably the HDMI cable is fine. The trouble may be in the connections behind the jack on your TV.
They are subject to mechanical stress when the plug is inserted and removed. They should be fine but if the connections weren't perfect from the factory they can cause microscopic cracks that will show as things like no video or intermittent video. You can bypass that connector by using a different audio/video input. If that fixes the problem then leave it that way. If it doesn't it's still likely to be a cracked soldered connection but elsewhere in the set.

I have a sceptre television
The first troubleshooting step would be to play around with the audio and audio output settings on the Comcast receiver. If you have it connected to your television with an hdmi cable the output should be changed to hdmi. If it is set on bitstream change it to pcm. If you have the choice of setting it on 48khz or 96khz then do so. It is in the Comcast receiver's settings if you are getting sound when connecting other devices to the television.

I have a Sceptre 46 in. LCD TV. It worked fine
Try reprogramming the remote the code for scepter is
10889 if you have a RED ok select button on your remote or if you have a DARK SILVER remote
Brand: Sceptre
Most likely code: 10889
- Turn on a device (e.g., VCR or DVD Player) and, if applicable, insert media, (e.g., video cassette or disc).
NOTE: Please read steps 2 to 6 completely before proceeding. Highlight
or write down the codes and device you wish to program before moving on
to step 2
- On the remote control, press a device key once (i.e., or TV).
NOTE: Use the AUX key to program control of an Audio Amplifier or
Receiver, a DVD Player, a Home-Theater-In-A-Box Device, a PVR (or DVR),
or a VCR.
- Press and hold Setup until the selected mode key blinks twice, then release Setup.
- Locate the code for your device in Manufacturer's Codes listed
below. Brands are listed in alphabetical order with the most popular
codes listed first.
- Enter the first five-digit code for your device. If you perform
this procedure correctly, the selected mode key will blink twice.
NOTE: If you enter an invalid code, the selected mode key will display
one long blink and exit the programming mode. Repeat steps 2 to 5 with a
valid code.
- Aim the remote control at your device and press Power once. The
device should turn off. If it does not respond, repeat steps 2 to 6,
trying each code listed for your brand until you find one that works. If
it still does not work, try Searching For Your Code.
NOTE: If the device does not have a Power key, press the (Play) key
