Horizontal lines in pictures

hi If u find that the lines are vertical that is often a result of taking pictures of very bright subjects. This is  called vertical streaking. If the lines are horizontal lines there is probably something wrong with your sensor and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician , and they will send it out to have it looked at. hope this helps!

How do I clean the battery contacts

The best way to clean battery contacts, is using a rubber eraser (for pencils). Rub it gently to the contacts, try battery first and do camera then if no result. I have used a file on stubborn contacts, but there is a chance you can do harm to the contacts, so be very careful. If this don't work, try another battery. Else, go to the shop to have them look at it. Good luck! :)

CARD SETUP that contains only two options 1. power off 2. format

As long as the xD card was not formatted it is possible to recover the images that were accidently erased or lost. You can go to the following website link and download an image recovery software program that is free of charge.

You want to download a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. It is a very simple program to use and many people have had much success in recovering lost images or corrupted.

Data recovery is a booming industry, and many appropriate services and software can be found by searching regional phone and business directories or the Internet for terms such as "image recovery" or "data recovery".

Pictures were on memory card, i was looking

If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones.

In this case you should try some photo recovery software to see if you can recover the lost photos, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Note: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the Olympus memory card in case the original files(your photos) are overwritten.

Need the software to download

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto on Mac or Windows Photo Gallery and Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ) on Windows.

Card set up message comes up at power on. select

Seems like the card has become corrupt. There is one thing you could do before replacing the card. SD cards have a small yellow switch with a sign to 'lock' the card. Make sure that the switch is not in the 'lock' position. Then clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and try to access or format the card again. If it fails to solve the issue, then try using another memory card.

How to fix write protect

Good day,

This tip will explain how to remove the write protect from your SD Card.

This is a easy fix and won't take a minute.

First remove your SD Card from your device. You will see on the side of the SD Card that there is a small switch. If your SD Card complains about being write protected simply put the switch in the opposite position. Some of the SD Cards even have the word LOCK on near the switch indicating the direction the switch must be to LOCK the card.

Once the switch is changed you can put the SD Card back into your device and the problem of write protection would be solved.

Please feel free to let me know if this tip was able to help you!
