How do i stop videos?

I might be misunderstanding your questions - if so, I apologize. First, make sure that the switch is on "camera" and not on "play" or "off." When it is on camera, you can then press the button below the word "DISC." After you record a video, you can simply hit the record button a second time to stop the recording process. The video you just recorded will automatically be given a separate "scene" in the index. You can view the video by moving the selector switch to "play."

My disk door wont open

My door became difficult to open after a few years. I found that I had to push it back with my finger as I pressed the open button. There is a metal prong that holds the door closed...and bends easily. You can try to bend it back in place once it is opened.

Canon DC220 DVD Finalization problem

You have to plug the camera into the wall charger in order to finalize. I was having the same problem. Once finalized, I transferred the disk to the PC. You need DVD decrypter software in order to view the videos on the disk. Canon does not supply this. Canon recommended that I use one of several free downloads. They said download "DVD Decrypter" which I downloaded. Type DVD Decrypter into Google search and you will find it. It will rip it and download it to your computer. I then viewed the video with Windows Media. It works fine.

I have finalized many discs

Hi!

to begin with, some important information:
  • You'll need to format the DVD before you record on it. This feature will be in the setup menu.
  • Use only DVDs recommended by Canon as any others may not be able to be finalized once you're done recording.
  • Finalizing is what you need to do in order to prepare the DVD to be played in a DVD player. To Finalize, you'll need to hook it up to it's AC adapter and select finalize from the menu.
  • You cannot finalize a disc (DVD-R/DVD-R DL or DVD-RW) recorded in VIDEO mode if it contains only still images. Record at least one scene before finalizing the disc.
  • The camcorder can't perform finalization if it's exceeded its operational temperature. Turn off the camcorder and let it cool down before resuming use.
Anyways, I've found this... Maybe it can help you:
1) Use IsoBuster to mate a .toa file of the selected track (the burned part of your DVD).
2) Open the .toa file in WinHex. Select: Tools > Disc Tools > File Recovery By Type > Select the two mpeg file options > set max. file size and click ok.
Use a DVD authorizing software (such as DVDStyler) to burn the MPEG video file in a DVD structure.

I have a Canon DC220

Hi!

Basically, after finalizing the disc, the video(s) could be played in any DVD player, including your DVD drive in your computer (the disc sits in the internal "circle" within the DVD drive's tray).
For more information, take a look at chapter "Playing Back the Disc on an External Device" (pg. 75-76) of the User's Guide.
To download the contents to your Mac, simply copy the files from the DVD to the hard drive.

If you're using iMovie '08, you might want to read this...
The procedure for iMovie, as written in a thread I found, is:
  1. Finalize the DVD before hooking up to USB
  2. Launch iMovie before hooking up USB
  3. Once iMovie is up, connect the camera to the Mac via the "PC CONNECT" function on the camera.
  4. Wait a much longer time than you think it should take and then wait some more.
In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

Good luck & best regards,
Pelu.

Is there a possibility of finalizing a DVD after

Hi,
What kind of dvd you are using in camcorder, is it once record or rewritable disc?
You can finalize dvd disc after recording in camcorder to view that disc in other dvd players. Use ac power charger to finalize disc as some camcorders do not give finalize option if battery is attached.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Mechanical. Fix receptacle for power.

Hello

If you have plugged the camcorder into the wrong charger or power adapter, most likely the voltages have been different, if the voltages of the wrong adapter where higher than what the device needs, it may have ruined the camcorder. Possibly burned or blown some of the components inside.

The boards inside these devices are quite complex.

This will not be fixed by replacing a power plug in that case.

As for taking it apart, general precision tools, normal screw drivers and possibly a case opening tool or a plastic stick will come handy.

as for a guide for taking it apart, unfortunately I don't have a service manual for this camera nor where to obtain one.

Take your time and you will be able to take it apart, check for screws under any soft objects or labels, parts may be held together with plastic clips, thats where the plastic stick or similar strong plastic will become handy to release the case.
