Device Manager is where you want to go to see if something is wrong with it. You know also, I'm not sure if any other Toshiba has this built in it. Like on some HP, they have a button just to the top of the touchpad. If you hit it, it turns off the touchpad. Hit it again, its back on.
I’m pretty it doesn’t. If the button is not there, then it might be just your touchpad is dead or loose cable on the inside.

No Audio Output Device Installed
Some users have been experiencing problems with a "No Audio Output Device Installed" error when trying to play music, or when hovering the mouse over the speaker icon in the system tray. You may get a white X in a red circle to indicate this error.

Go to the device manager by pressing WINDOWS KEY + R to go to the run menu, and then run "devmgmt.msc".

attachment.php?s=d074f1b3c70781e9f502ecfeec63067c&attachmentid=21&d=1203095937
From here, select your malfunctioning audio device(s) and make a note of the driver name. Then, right click on it and select Uninstall. This will remove the audio drivers from your system.

Once this is done, re-load the drivers for your sound card from the CD your manufacturer gave you with your PC or sound device. If you cannot find this, search for the driver on the manufacturers website using the driver name that has been written down. No Audio Output Device Installed

"Plugged in, not charging", Toshiba Satellite A135 S4527, under Windows Vista Home Premium

This is driving me crazy, and I'm almost giving up on my Toshiba.... I have tried a New battery and a New AC Adapter already... it got fixed for a few days, then the problem comes again.
I've noticed that if my battery is low, like 20% or less, connecting AC adapter results in 10 seconds or so of "plugged in, charging", and then, not charging.  I disconnect and connect, same results.  Remove battery and install again, it works for a little while, then it fails again. If I close the laptop, it will charge battery. If I open and use an application,  for example, Internet Explorer, as soon as the application opens, battery charging indicator turns off, and "Plugged in, not charging" comes again. So the thing is I'm not able to use my computer for long periods of time, because it needs to be closed in order to recharge the battery. Any ideas???

I started having the same problem and worse mine would shut off without warning either from the battery running down or even just plugged in without a battery.

I thought It might be overheating so I got a can of air and cleaned all of the vents...and downloaded core temp to monitor the cpu temp @ http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/. Same problem shut down and no charging even though it was running cool.

Finally I started changing settings and it seems to be working and charging just fine.

Here's the answer:
1. Set your power scheme to balanced
2. Open Toshiba Assistant from start
3. In Toshiba Assistant open CPU tab and set to low power.
4. When asked "restart now?" say no and shut it down using the start menu.
When you start it back up you will see the change.

Changing either one of these settings brings the problems back. I can't explain it.

I HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!

I just can't afford another laptop right now.

P.S. even at low power my system works fine...It's a little slower @ start-up but otherwise good.

0701 usb over current on hc/port error

When i try to turn on my Toshiba laptop i get 0701 usb over current on hc/port error. I assume it is a bad USB port but how can I fix this please?

I had the same problem on a toshiba satellite u400.
Usb over current on port ... blabla..
Please press F1 to resume or F12 to install.
F1 just ended up in a screen asking to press F2 or F12 which did nothing.
F12 did nothing.

Rebooting the pc ended in a black screen with a flickering HD symbol.

To be able to boot again on the BIOS I had to remove the battery and disconnect the plug.
Once It restarted booting on the error USB over current.

Si I took a USB mouse and tried to boot with the mouse plugged in on port , then another ... at the third port the PC booted normally with no error :)

Don't have any idea why it became faulty but it's now solved for me.
