Laptop over heating, then shuts

All you have to do is google "toshiba laptop fan spares" and you will find dozens of suppliers. usually there is a video on youtube showing how to change it. Basically you just remove the keyboard which is held in by a couple of screws then remove the screens hinges and cables and then all the screws you can find underneath the laptop. that will split it and you will get to the fan easily.

Good luck

I am being asked for

Toshiba Notebook PC's in the A105 series, and A135 series, suffered a lot of issues with asking for a HarDDrive password.

A Processor is an I.C.
Ram Memory uses I.C.'s on the sides. They are DRAM chips.

When you power on your computer the first chipset to receive power is the BIOS chipset.
BIOS looks to see what devices are installed, does a Ram Memory count, turns the Processor on, and hands the computer over to the Operating System.
{Simple explanation}

WinXP, and Win 7 are two examples of an O/S.

BIOS gave the harddrive in your laptop the moniker of HDD1.
If there was another harddrive installed also, it would be HDD2.
(HDD 1, HDD 2 ]

Reloading the O/S may, or May Not stop the request for the HDD1 password.
Most of the time? No.

Removing the CMOS battery (RTC Battery) will Not fix this issue.
{Real Time Clock}

It's a glitch in the BIOS program.

{ NOTE*
When you go to perform a BIOS update, make SURE the power will not go out.
If the power goes out during upgrading, you will wind up with an expensive doorstop, or an ornament for a table.

A battery backup device of some sort is recommended }

My Toshiba Satellite A135-4527 will

A program or driver that is set to load during startup is damaged and it crashes Windows.
Go to Start, Run, type msconfig, click the Startup tab and unclick/disable all of them then click Apply and OK. Now try to reboot normally - if you can't then the problem is with one of the drivers: go back in Safe mode and uninstall all, if you can then it's a program.
To find out the faulty one enable(if it's a program) or install (if it's a driver) every single one, one at a time, until the problem returns.
Once you know the one just Uninstall it permanently or (if you really need it) try to find an upgraded one (or a new version).

After I power the computer

This can be a few things. The display could be out or the laptop is not running or the hard drive is acting up or even the operating system needs to be repaired or re installed.

If you see anything and then it stops it could be the drive or a software or os problem. If it does nothing and no display then you could have a memory or ma inboard problem. If it makes sounds like it is running but no display your display might be the problem usually the back light.

You need to describe what it does or doesn't do when you try to start it in more detail. Then someone will be able to narrow things down and give you a fix.

In most cases this is only available from the Toshiba Website through the Software update section. Because the software is Toshiba specific and will not install on a machine other than Toshiba in that series. Now, having said that, if you did not wipe out the partitions on that hard drives there is a recovery hard drive on that laptop. This is how they distribute software now. You can usually access the recovery system by pressing and holding the F10 Button right after you push the on/off switch. This will access the recovery menu and allow you to restore the system to it's original factory settings and drivers. If this option no longer works you will have to go through the Toshiba Software update section to purchase the recovery disk. Here is the place to start:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?modelFilter=A135-S4527&rpn=PSAD0U&category=&selCategory=2756709&moid=1700045&os=&ct=DL&selFamily=1073768663

Copy and paste this link in your browser and it will take you to the update section for the laptop you identified.

Hi, I have a toshiba

Hi shirley_ann1,

This problem that you have with your PC is a NO BOOT issue. After getting the startup Toshiba logo it's not booting up to your Windows. This could be a hardware or software problem depending on the result of the diagnostics that I'll be walking you through below, but definitely this issue can still be fixed.

Here's how:

1. If this is a software issue you can determine it by booting up on safe mode. To go to safe mode:
  • Shutdown the computer then turn it back on
  • The moment you turn on you PC keep on tapping F8 button until Safe Mode menu shows.
  • Then select Safe Mode, press enter.
If you'll be able to boot up on Windows using Safe Mode then you just have to reload your operating system. You will use the recovery disc that goes with your machine when you purchase it.

2. If it's a hardware issue you will not be able to boot up even on Safe Mode or even go to BIOS when you keep on tapping F2 during startup. This means your harddrive is corrupted or defetive. It needs to be reimaged or replaced.

Hope this will help you resolve your concern.

Thank you for using Fixya.

I have no sound on

First, find a video on youtube with sound.

Turn the volume all the way up and press the mute button a few times to ensure it's not that.

If that does not work, go to the start menu=control panel=device manager or type device manager in the "Search programs and files" box. Look under sound to ensure that the sound device has a driver and is enabled. If there is a ? that means there is no driver for that device. I have included a link to the download page for all drivers for your laptop. That should fix your problem.
