Installation software/driver

Download it from the below link:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DSCS500

Alternatively you can just connect the memory card from the camera to a card reader and the computer will pick it as normal drive under My computer.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

My pict from s500 show white lines, but that is

Unfortunately the shutter motor is broken, so normal pictures will be over-exposed. If you use it as a recorder or candlelight function the shutter mechanism doesn't need to work because the shutter is always open.
Fix that problem is very difficult, unless you get a new lens block.
Hope this helps,

My camera will cut on,

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, it may be time to replace the batteries, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

How do you turn sound on video

Hello,

The camera will record the sound automatically, but you must transfer the file to your computer and play it back before you can hear it. The camera has a microphone, but does not have a speaker to hear it when you playback on the camera itself.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Describe how to turn on the flash

Hello,

On the control button (large button on the back) at the top is a symbol that looks like a lightning bolt with an arrow tip. This is also the UP arrow. When you press it continually, the flash options will be noted by symbols.

No indicator - Auto
Lightning bolt - Flash forced on
Lightning bolt followed by SL - Slow Synchronized flash
Lightning bolt with the circle and line through it - Flash Forced off

You can refer to the manual for your camera at:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DSCS500.pdf

Use of the control button is on Page 17.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Can i delete batches of pic

If your camera's memory is structured as most, you can treat the internal memory like any disk drive. If you have a PC with Windows, plug in your Sony via the USB port, go to 'My Computer' select a disk drive with a later letter than C or D and open it as you would any other drive. You may have nested folders requiring that you open several folders in succession. You will recognize having arrived when you have a bunch of individual files shown in Explorer with the suffix Sony uses (commonly .jpg) and you canmanipulate them as you would any other files, including deletion.

No sound

You will get sound when you transfer recorded movie clips in your computer and playback in computer.
DSC-S500 Sony Cybershot has built-in mic to record sound but doesn't have speaker to give sound during playback in camera. You need to import movie files in your PC and playback in PC to hear sound.
