When I turn my Sony

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks,

KenSolutions

Battery door broken

You're making it harder than it has to be. Simply hold the camera in your left hand, and open the battery door so it is standing up. Look closely at the lower left corner of the batterry door. Notice the notch shape. The door plastic door is locked in place by the mating little "L" shape on the hinged door of your camera. Thats all that keeps it from sliding off when you put in batteries. Simply insert a small screwdriver or knife blade in that slot, twist it counterclockwise to push the battery door lock to the left, and slide the door off with no force at all. It's a snap.

The Sony cyber shot DSC-S500

if you are so technicaly inclined you need to open the camera and replace the button battery on the board. the symptoms of your problem are due to a boot test regarding the hardware clock, since the button battery is dead it can't keep time and shuts off before it frys its self.

Changed from XP to Windows 7 pro and system will not recognize the camera to download pics. Have updated drivers and software. No luck. How do I get them off the card onto my harddrive

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTERIf your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.

Blurry pictures

Check to see what the setting is for Image Size (I have sony cybershot DSC-w50). On the camera itself, it is the button on the bottom. My camera was on the 8"x10" size and I was getting blurry shots (especially with people in them). I switched it to the 4x6 print size and it seems to be much clearer.

Hi,
Mostly this symptom shws in two ways First is lens and second is main board.Just try it as i said. First dont turn the power on just press PLAY button from which u see the pics.If it turns on and you are able to see picture display on the LCD  then switch it to pictur taking mode.It means that the problem is in lens. And in doing this procedure it shows nothing on the lcd and not go to play mode and message "TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN"appears Then the problem is in main board.

Upoload with vista operating system

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.
