Samsung LNT4065 started flashing 2

I'd say what you really needed in the first place is this:

As to why it went dead...I think (and you should pray) that it's because the original problem just showed up again.

The original problem being the power board not functioning right and NOT what Samsung told you.

Chances are I am wrong, of course.

But I'd bet my lunch over anything any large company service rep reads you from a book.

No sound no picture.

Are you using the cable/Sat box? That sounds like you have the problem with your Sat box or the cable box, not the TV problem. It is trying to update the firmware.
You should contact the hardware provider.

Sorry to hear you have a cracked screen. Unless it is under warranty it is not costwise to get repaired. The cost of the screen exceeds the cost of a new television.

Samsung LN406 1F 40inch 1080p

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Tv chimes like it is

This is becoming a common issue. Electrolytic filter capacitors in the power supply are typically underrated in voltage from the start. Your symptoms are the primary stages of the caps failing. Usually, the capacitors can be replaced instead of the whole power supply board itself at a significant savings. Upon inspection, they will appear to be swollen or puffed up on top. Replace them with 25 volt caps of the same value and you'll be good to go.

This is the poorly designed power supplies in this model. You will need to open the tv and check for blown/burnt components and replace accordingly. You are having some sort of voltage issue that is causing the sound. I would attempt this repair soon so that you don't further damage your tv.

What can be done about

To prevent burn in don't leave an image on your screen for an extended period of time. This applies to bars and tickers on games and shows. Once you have it there is nothing that can be done.

If you shine a flashlight onto the screen, can you see a very faint picture. If yes, then your lcd panel is not lighting up. Replace the inverters or the panel.

first I would check the power supply for faulty caps, replace if neccessary.

Tv will not turn on?

Hi,

Here are some DIY steps that may help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your outlet is live.

1. Check the power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity).

2. Check the internal fuse - sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I've advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts on the power supply, you may visit the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

3.If you see that the fuse is intact on the board, don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only.

The next steps should be done by an expert or qualified technician because isolating the problem on the power supply is quite technical.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope it may help you.

Thanks for using fixya.

I have a dish network satellite box with an hdtv.

I definitely hope that you have gotten this resolved, but if not, here are some reasons this could be happening. If you have tried the same HDMI cable on other devices, such as the PS3, then it sounds like the problem is in the HDMI output on the receiver. Have you tried another HDMI cable in a different input on your tv? It could also be the input on the tv. But so far, it does sound as though this is a receiver issue, and the receiver would possible need to be replaced. You can e-mail me if you have any additional questions. My e-mail is [email protected].
