If the symptoms start from the moment you turn you PC on, and you don't even see the POST messages as it boots, chances are your monitor has given out the ghost. Time to replace it.
However, if you see some text lines and logos as soon as you turn it on, or turn the PC on, then your monitor may be Ok, and it needs reconfiguring.
Newer LCDs have a friendly way to tell you when there's a problem and will tell you, for example, when there's NO SIGNAL. What this means is that it may be expecting a Digital signal (DVI) and we're feeding it an Analog one (VGA).
On older LCDs, that may not be the case.
It may be possible that either the refresh rate frequency, or the resolution you have set your video card to on your pc/laptop, is too high for your LCD monitor, and it cannot handle these settings.
It would appear that the default refresh rate for LCDs is only 60Hhz.
If your LCD monitor displays text and logos as soon as you turn it on, then try the following:

Reboot your machine in SAFE MODE, pressing the F8 key repeatedly as soon as the initial POST messages disappear from the screen. Next, select Safe Mode from the different options shown.
Once the PC starts and you're running Windows, go to Control Panel->Appearance and Personalization->Adjust Screen Resolution->Advanced Settings->Adapter->List All Modes and verify that the resolution that's been set is within the range allowed by your monitor. Older ones only go as high as 1024 x 768 pixels in resolution.
Your user's manual should have this information. In case you don't have this information, change it to something safe, like 800 x 600 pixels, at 60Hz refresh rate.
Close all windows, reboot, and Voila! Your monitor is back to life!
Should you wish to continue to improve your monitor resolution, then right click anywhere on an empty spot on your desktop, and choose Personalize->Adjust Display Settings, and try a higher resolution, remembering to leave the refresh rate at 60Hz.

Should your monitor fail to display even POST messages as it boots, then it may have given out the ghost. Time to pull out your warranty certificate or invoice to see whether you can save on the repairs.
Good luck!

Monitor cold start issue only as #2 monitor

The start up problem is common and will only get worse. Call Samsung as these monitors have a 3-year warranty. No receipt? They will accept your word regarding your purchase. I have two that failed exactly the same way. I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and they gave me the choice of an exchange pair sent directly to my house (requiring a temporary credit card deposit) or by having the exchange pair sent to the UPS store where I would swap out my bad units. No receipt. They merely asked me when I purchased it so they could have it for their records. Manufacture dates such as your (March '06) and a purchase of September '06 are not far fetched at all. .

Blue power light flickers, won't turn on

Flashing power light is an indicator of a failing power board or a bad transistor in the inverter board. I fix monitor boards through ebay. If you take it apart and send me pictures , I may be able to see the problem.

make sure you have the latest video driver.

Some video drivers you can configure/enhance your desktop settings.. ie. brightness, gamma, contrast..

If you're using windows, right click on your desktop, click Properties, choose the tab Settings, then click on the Advanced button. Choose your video card tab, and continue accordingly.

Screen comes on but is completely white

Make sure none of the pins on your cable are bent. If they are then even them back out so they are aligned properly, 5 pins on each of the 3 rows. If you are still getting a white screen then go ahead and try another known working monitor on your computer. If the 2nd monitor works then you know its a problem with your original monitor. If the 2nd monitor doesn't work then you know that your video card is bad and would need to be replaced.

My Samsung SyncMaster 215TW Monitor

If it is not still covered under warranty, start by opening the case. Once you remove the power board, you will probably notice several capacitors (the round, can shaped parts) that have tops that are not flat. If you see any that have bubbled tops instead of being completely flat, they need replaced. Once they are replaced, the monitor should turn right back on. Hope this helps.

931B tries to come on but shuts back off

Problem solved by changing 3 capacitors (C112, C113, C316).

Replace the 470uF 25V with a good quality low ESR type and the two 820uF 25V with 1000uF 25V low ESR types.

The 1000uF caps should be 10x20 in size, however I managed to get 13x20 caps in, but it was a bit tight.

SyncNaster 931B

take a soft cloth (type used for cleaning glasses) and moisten it with a small amount of water on one corner.

gently wipe the wet portion of the cloth across the screen (if you have any weak alcohol based cleaners you can try it. I have used hand sanitizer before on my 931b w/out problems, I wouldn't use any extremely strong liquid cleaners though).

Use the dry part of the cloth to wipe the area dry, then move to another part of the monitor once you are satisfied.

How to fix pink colur screen on sync master 794 mg samsung

The connecting cable or the video card would be the first suspects. Try a different cable to connect the monitor first, if there is no change, the video card in the computer would be second to look at. Can simply connect a different monitor to your computer to troubleshoot this. If the testing monitor works, it will be the graphics card that is the issue.
