The only solution is to replace the panel which will more than likely cost just as much as a new set. What you have now is a parts unit. I would toss it on Craigslist or Ebay

I have a replacement screen shipped directly from Samsung with original invoice. We ended up not using it. I am going to post on ebay shortly unless you would like to buy direct. The invoice says, "this part may be new or reconditioned" - so I am assuming it is reconditioned. The invoice amount is $546.00. I will sell it to you for $175 plus shipping.

If the indicator light is on but you get no pic/sound then you have a bad power supply on the unit. Since you are not sure of the warranty status your best bet is to call samsung (or get online with them) and they can check the warranty of it for you. If it is under a warranty they will set you up and if it is not then (depending on if you like the tv or not) you can contact a service center in your area and the repair is a pretty basic fix that shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg.

The power supply is most likely shot and need replacement. Swelled caps are only a issue some of the time most power supply issues are either a transformer, Regulator or diode problem. You can get free technical help from www.tvrepairworld.com to help figure out whats going on and they also have replacement parts available.

There is a way to troubleshoot and find the problem but without proper equipment (safety equipment) you could damage the display permanently or even worse, yourself!I work at a company that repairs displays (LCD, Plasma, OLED) and 86.784% of the time (I just ran my month to date metrics for June '12) it's a tab. Majority is due to the the tab bond failing. Just so you know, the Tcon board which feeds the panel is way cheaper than a panel, sometimes samsung is out of stock and wants to sell you the panel (over $600) with the Tcon on it. you have either a bad signal board or bad Tcon board, my money is on the Tcon, be very careful with the ribbon cables to the Tcon when installing.

Try changing resolution from 480i to 480p on the dvd. Press enter on LG remote to see display to see what resolution you are in.

LCD Screen replacement not practical.Tv companies don't sell them out,if they do it cost about the same as the new tv.
