HP Officejet J5780 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Page 8 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a new windows 7 computer and a hp officejet
Sound like you need Windows 7 drivers for your printer.
Go HERE. Select the type win7 you have (make sure you see your printer in the top right corner). that should get you going.
Your fax is independent of the computer and needs no driver.
hope this gets you printing.
Good Luck

How do I delete all jobs from the printer. I have
Try to delete the print jobs while the printer is turned ON. Also, if you are using Windows, deleting print jobs is easier when the print spooler is stopped and the printer is turned ON.
- Click Start => Settings => Control Panel
- In the Control Panel window, click to open the "Administrative Tools"
- Double click the icon "Services" to open it.
- Locate the "Printer Spooler" service, click on it to select, and click the STOP button at at top. You can right click on it and click on STOP in the context menu that appears.
- Now turn ON your printer. It should not print the stored jobs since the spooler is stopped.
- Then open your printer's folder (Start => Settings => Printers and Faxes)
- Select all print jobs. Then press the "Del" or Delete key in your keyboard and click on YES when prompted. Another option is to select all and then under the "Document" menu, click CANCEL.
Try your luck. I hope these help.
- Turn your printer ON.

How do you turn-off the printer. I press the
Please press and HOLD the on/off button next to Scan on your printer for 30 seconds until the printer turns off.
If no luck, I am afraid the printer is locked, so please unplug it from the WALL outlet, wait 30 seconds and plug it back. Let me know if the problem is solved this way.
Thank you

HP Officejet J5780 all in one Alignment problem
Usually the yellow is the culprit. Dab the cartridge on a paper towel and see if all colors make a spot or line. if any color is missing it will not pass alignment, and you need a new cartridge.

Printer is printing documents backwards
Go to control panel and printers, in properties for your printer, select printing options or preferences. Turn off
mirror image printing. It is used to print on a transfer sheet to transfer to t-shirts and such.

How do I scan a 13 page document as 1 document.
If your ADF (Automated Document Feeder), is loading all thirteen pages as individual files; there should be a setting either on the J5780 control panel or via the computer control panel that treats each scan-batch as a single file.
• Are you using HP Digital Imaging Monitor software?
• Are all current software drivers installed? (Particularly important if you're upgraded OS software) If not, update, reboot and try again.
If you don't find the control setting in the DIM control panel, or in the HP Scanning software control panel, I'd look at the Properties (Windows) or Preferences (Mac) for that application to determine scan-settings.
The HP Manual for this series of product doesn't specifically address this control setting, so I have to infer from the other HP units I've used that this is controlled during the inital scan or the "preview" step.
You also don't mention what OS you're using - XP, Vista, Win7, Mac OS-X - there may be some variances between control interfaces for these different platforms.
If I can be of further assistance, or if you have questions about any of my response(s), please let me know before rating me.
If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly. My goal is to earn a "FixYa" rating from everyone I help.
Thanks for using Fixya.com,

Im trying to cancel a print job and all i get is
open the print que and delete the job there.
controlpanel, printers, open yours, delete the job.
it may be that you are required to have administrative priviledges to do this. If this is your computer, go to the control panel as an administrator user and change your user settings.

In printer properties and then in printing preferences, look for and turn off mirror image printing, it's there for printing transfers to shirts and things that you need reversed.

Paper feeder inop. displays 'out of paper' message
Printers can be very fussy about how dry paper is. I had a lot of trouble with one (HP) printer before I learned this - and none afterwards. make sure that when you open a new paper pack you close it up tight.
