When I connect the camera
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

How to Recover Deleted Pictures from a Memory Card
Everybody has a digital camera these days. More and more people use digital cameras to record wonderful moments. But it seems digital pictures are easier to lose than traditional film pictures because the digital camera has a useful but dangerous delete button or feature. An operation mishap may delete one or all of the pictures instantly. Do you think the valuable pictures were permanently lost? NO! In most cases, there are some easy ways to restore them.
A digital camera stores the pictures you take as separate files on a flash memory card (also known as "digital film"). There are many different types of memory cards such as SD, CF, xD Picture Card, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, the MMC Card and more. In addition, each card type has different brands like SanDisk,Kingston and more. They have different sizes, capacities and appearances, but they are just the same when acting as storage to hold pictures - they are similar to your old floppy disk or hard drive. When you delete one or more pictures from your camera, your camera locates the picture files on the memory card, then "deletes" them and marks the leftover space as usable. In most cases, for fast processing, the camera doesn't delete the picture file body but leaves them as is, which makes it possible for us to retrieve them after deletion.

Okay, let's begin. To recover the deleted pictures, you need to connect your camera to your computer (usually via USB). If your camera does not appear as a drive letter in "My Computer", an external USB card reader is necessary. You may find such card readers from local computer shops, Amazon, BestBuy, or Wal-Mart. They're very cheap and very useful, not only for data recovery, but also for photo retrieval and processes in daily life. When you insert the card in the card reader, and connect the card reader to your computer, it will appear as a drive letter in "My Computer", which will allow a software tool to access the data on the memory card.
If you have your camera or card reader connected, you may download the picture recovery software CardRecovery by clicking this download link.
It's a small download and you may get it in less than one minute. Run the downloaded executable file and follow the instructions to install it on your computer. Then launch it. It has a wizard-style interface and it's very easy to use.
Click "Next" on the welcome window, it will bring you to Step 1. In Step 1, you may specify the drive letter of your camera or card reader, as well as other options including file type to retrieve and destination location to save the recovered pictures. Click "Next" to Step 2 and the scan will start. Depending on the capacity of your card, it may take several minutes for the software to fully scan your memory card. The found pictures during the scanning process will be listed. You may preview the detected pictures as thumbnails in Step 3, and choose the deleted pictures that you want to recover. After that, click "Next" again and CardRecovery will save the selected pictures to the location you specified in Step 1.
Your deleted pictures are recovered and got back again. It couldn't be any easier and faster!
Tips:
1. Don't put additional pictures on your memory card if you find you have deleted some pictures by mistake. Otherwise it may cause overwriting and make them unrecoverable.
2. Use an USB 2.0 connection if available to connect your camera or card reader to your computer, it may make the scan much faster than an USB 1.0 connection.

Make sure the ISO is set to the lowest number or even to "auto ISO". The
best way to avoid these lighting problems is to adjust
your aperture settings, your shutter speed and your film speed when
shooting. Additional details about thus sibject could find in the Casio EX-Z700 User Guide in section about Settings & Mode.
Its possible that you are interesnting to check other information, so visit this two sites Fix-Overexposed and this other take-better-photos-in-5-easy-steps.
Finally, remote but possible, could be the
symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter, this are very similar to CCD image
sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck
closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes
with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than
"Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the
next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should
see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and
closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter.

Hi Robert, can you try this please. Insert the SD card in side the camera & then open the Menu option. Now go to the setting and select the SD card as default storage location. If the card not showing there then do reset the camera first then try to find this option. Please let me know the result.
CASIO EXILIM EX-Z700 pictures come with stripes
This camera needs to be taken into a repair shop to have its
CCD sensor looked at. there is no reason for overexposure on these cameras unless a hardware failure
happened. Now cost of repair I estimate $30 to 80 bucks. You can try
firm waring the camera all you want but the safe thing to do is take it into a camera shop.
This is one of the solutions that I am not able to fix over a email support this needs hands on physical contact with a tech.

When I connect the camera with a USB port
Many people find it more convenient to just take the memory card out of the camera and put it in a card reader connected to the computer, especially now that these readers are built into computers and printers. You can't get the pics from the camera's internal memory that way though.
There is a FAQ page on the Casio site for this camera, at
THIS LINK that may help.
The camera won't start and the lens are open
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair
center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

How do i fix a lens error?
It's most likely that your camera has either had a knock on the lens or been dropped, if the sound is mechanical (like a whizz). If it's more clicky in nature, there might be a grain of sand or dirt stuck in it. If you have an air blower, try that on the lens. If it is mechanical, your lens will need to be replaced, either by casio or a qualified dealer. This is usually an equivalent cost to buying the camera new, unless it is covered under warranty.
It wont take a picture and amber light flashes
Begin by removing the battery and leaving it out for two full minutes. Then reinsert the battery and turn on the camera. go to the menu and find the reset funcion. Click on that to reset to factory fresh settings. IF that doesnt fix the problem you will have to have it repaired locally or at a casio repair center. Joe
THE CAMERA IS NOT CHARGING
known issue, battery needs to be 'shocked" back to life. Here's the fix:
"Hi,I just found a soultion on another website and it appears to have worked for me.Apparently the battery loses it memory when fully discharged,to fix this take a 9v battery and place the terminals + to + and - to - with the camera battery for 30 seconds or so then put the battery back in the camera and charge as normal.I just did this and it seems to be charging and the red light is solid.hope this helps."
Lens comes out and goes back in when turned on
I believe that it is supposed to. Then when powered on, using the zoom function and wide function will make the focal lens go in and out. Then when you power it down it will retract back into the camera housing. I may be wrong but I believe it is standard. Both of my Canon cameras operate this way. I hope this helps.
