Lens is error i drop my camera

Hi,

Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. If the camera is still under warranty, before trying any of these, please please first contact your camera's maker to see if they'll cover the repair, or to determine how much they'll charge for the repair. Who knows, you might get lucky. But if they quote you a number that's higher than the value of your camera, you may want to consider the following methods.

Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to auto focus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots. Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).

Thank you!

WHEN I HOOK MY CAMERA

First of all, stop hooking the camera to the computer to download pics. That's not the best way and obviously, your computer doesn't like it. Get a separate card reader and use it instead of your camera. This one is only $13 at Walmart. 46e433f.jpg

Remote shooting on Canon PowerShot A550

The software that comes with the A630 is generic to the whole series of cameras with different capabilities. Some have this feature, and some, like the A500 - A600 series, do not. Do not feel bad though. Many of the cameras that do have this capacity cannot do the photo-stitch picture merging that your camera does.

My preview screen is blank when taking a picture

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

As normal this is not possible. But if you use an adaptor cable (A/V to USB) + finalizing cable and a webcam software you can do that.

A550 date/time problem

Open up your battery door, and you'll notice another tiny door labeled "CR1220". Pry open that door with your fingernails, and you'll find a little button watch battery that keeps the time settings for your camera. It's time for a new battery. Take that little battery down to your local drug store (Walgreens or Rite-Aid). Should only cost about $4. Note that Walmart is more expensive for these type of batteries, and drug stores are usually cheaper (I know, it's hard to believe).

Long delay before can shoot another picture

This can happen when the card is nearly full or you've been deleting the pics but never formatting the card to give it a fresh start. Download any pics from the card and then format it in the camera.

I can't take a picture with the flash.

My wife's A550 stopped its flash for no good reason. I put two fresh batteries in and there was no improvement. I then gave it a smal tap on our kitchen table - on the opposite side to the flash - and it started working again.

Perhaps it's the 21st century equivalent to kicking the photo copier when it did not work.

Good Luck
