P.C Hard drive problems

Are you sure there is not a USB drive or thumb drive plugged into it? If there is nothing else that it is trying to boot from your operating system is gone or not operational. You would need to reload the OS. Hope this helps.

Sulphur smell : risk of explosion / fire / Meltdown ?

The smell is sulphuric acid boiling in the battery in the unit. It is getting more the the required 14 volts ( probably full line voltage) so I would junk it as it will cost more than it is worth to repair. Do not use it and any fluid that is coming out will be highly corrosive so be carefull

I want to use the

the battery back-up will smooth out the voltage, You will definitely need a battery in or else it will beep nonstop and drive you batty! the APC should have surge protected outlets already built into it. And since you will be using it outside of a computer environment, im guessing on a worksite, there will be nothing extra you need to do besides plugging it in. I would suggest plugging it into a stable voltage for the first hour or so to allow it to charge the battery.

SO bad, and a bad response... I have 2 UPCs one

These beep error codes may help you.
1. Four beeps every 30 seconds (On Battery LEDwill be illuminated)
This alarm indicates that the Battery Power Suppliedoutlets are now supplying battery power as opposed to power from the utility. If the UPS determines that the input utility power is unsafe for your computerequipment, the UPS will switch to battery power.
Note: Ifthe power disturbance is brief, you may only hear one or two beeps.

2. Continuous Beeping (On Battery LED will beilluminated)
This alarm indicates that a Low Battery condition hasbeen reached and that the UPS will soon shutdown. Once the UPS transfers to OnBattery operation, it can only stay on battery for a limited amount of time. The UPS will sound this alarm about two minutes before the batteries aretotally exhausted. Once exhausted, the UPS will shutdown and turn off itsoutput power to your equipment. If you hear this tone you should immediatelyshutdown your computer to prevent data loss or corruption.

3. Continuous Beeps for 30 seconds (Back UPSOFFICE 250 and 280 ONLY)
This alarm indicates the unit has detected an Overloadcondition after it has performed a self-test during start-up.

4. Continuous Two-Tone Beep
This alarm indicates a severe Overload was detectedwhile the unit was on-battery operation. This tone will continue to sound untilthe unit shuts down.

5. Continuous Tone (On Battery LED will beflashing)
This alarm indicates that the battery-powered outletsare overloaded.

6. Continuous Tone (On Line and On Battery LEDsflashing) Back UPS OFFICE 350, 400, and 500 ONLY
This alarm indicates that an internal UPS fault hasoccurred.

Need information

The Back-UPS is fairly straight-forward. The 9-pin connector (at the top of the back) is a serial port (RS-232) for the UPS data (when connected to a computer it will shut down the computer safely during a power outage). The next plugs are RJ-11 telephone jacks; the cord from the jack (wall) goes in on the left (some models have RJ-45 for network protection). The battery protected outlets are the three surrounded by black paint. The other three provide surge-protection only. Do not plug items like printers and scanners into the outlets that provide battery protection.

I hope this helps.

APC BACK-UPS PRO 1100VA 120V does not cold start.

When was the last time you replaced the batteries? These units will not start with old / failed batteries connected, or without batteries connected.

If you have a voltmeter, check the batteries. Your unit should have two batteries harnessed together. if you check the individual battery, you should see just over 13 volts, together should be around 26 volts. if you see less than 12.5 volts, that would be why the unit will not start.

You will have to replace the batteries if that is the case. Your BP1100 takes an RBC 7: moz-screenshot-1.pnghttp://www.refurbups.com/APC-RBC7-Compatiblemoz-screenshot.png

Any schematics available for a APC Back-UPS Pro

hi, i don't have the schematic but, i think if you connected the batteries okay and had switched off the machine then it should work. when switching on there are two sounds that come, first its a beep, if you release the ON SWITCH the UPS will just do a self test then shutdown. to switch ON the UPS completely don't release the on button until you hear a second beep, if you release the ON switch when this beep is on, then the UPS will be ON completely.

APC BP650S - will not turn on

If you do not get any output and you know for sure you are plugged into a good receptacle it could be the internal fuse blown. Most good UPSs' come with an internal small glass body fuse. You have to get inside to check it, but be CAREFUL because they have capacitors in them that will stay charged for a few minutes after you unplug it, depending on where the fuse is. Also, have you looked all over it for a reset button? If you are going to get inside, dont be scared, just wait ten minutes, then if you see a fuse, remove it and if the filament is burned in half,or the glass is blackened, make sure you replace it (Radio Shack) with the EXACT same rating (amps, voltage) found on end of fuse, but usually in a universal code Number.
If that doesn't do it, it could be more to repair than it's worth. BTW I am a Master Licensed Electrician, good luck! get back if need more help.
