I was told the Fan in the unit is no longer working ?can This be replaced with a new one ?the technician advise that it is cheaper to purchase a new one What are my options?

Yeah, its better to buy a new UPS. But hey, if you have the time to search for it go for it. If you call the MFR and just ask for parts dept, then tell them the part no on the fan and order it from them. Hope this helps

Overload LED lit, constant warning tone, no load

you may have to many things plugged into the ups, it is not good to plug a power bar into one of the outlets of one of these as you are OVERLOADING the device with more power than it can produce

How do you hook up

how many batteries do you have. If you have 2 batteries hook up the UPS positive to the positive side of a battery. Take the other battery hook up the UPS neg. side up. Then take the jumper and hook up the 2 batteries together.

Ups gave long continuous sound

Hi there,

A couple of things, first, are there any high-load devices plugged into the battery backup side of the unit? (Microwave, laser printer, and so on.) If so, there's your problem :). These devices cause a BIG load on your power system and need to be on the "surge protection only" side of the unit or plugged in to another surge suppressor.

If that isn't the case, it sounds like the UPS battery is bad. Here's something to try:

1. Shut the UPS off when this happens.
2. Take ALL load of of the "battery backup" plugs by unplugging them.
3. Start the UPS.
4. After the short self-test (the light blink and a few clicks are heard, in most cases), you should see a green light.
5. Plug in the loads that you unplugged from the battery backup side one at a time.
6. As you plug each one in, leave the ups turned on, but yank the power cord from the wall (unplug the ups from the wall while powered on and plugged in with a device drawing backup power from the unit)
7. Then, if the alarm goes off, you've confirmed that the battery can't take the load. So, it'll need to be replaced.

You can obtain ups batteries just about anywhere. (e.g www.planetbattery.com) All you need is the model number off of the battery and you can order a new cartridge. Make SURE the battery looks like and has the same voltage as the bad one to be sure your new one will function properly. Your manual should cover opening the battery door and replacing the battery.

Upc 900 why my overload

The overload circuit normally collects the current information from the inverter leg. At times when there is an actual overload, the protective circuit picked up the excess current as compared to the calculated value and thus gives an alarm. However at times when the inverter leg is short circuit or a leakage it also gives the same overload current. Is the inverter on when it gives the overload alarm? Please let us know.

There is a hideous whistle coming out of the unit!

Hello,

This sounds like the gel cell battery in the unit is dead. The battery life usually is about 2-3 years and then it needs to be replaced. The BX900 UPS uses qty 2 of the 12volt 7amp hour gel cell batteries. You should be able to get them from your local battery wholesale business or computer store, even Radio Shack. The replacement batteries should run about $40-50 To replace them just open the cover and unplug the old batteries and plug in the new set.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Hello, I have a APC Backup

Because of the electrical burning it is likely that the battery was not the cause of the issue in the first place, it is also likely that the unit will not be able to be repaired by you personally. Often these batteries have very long warranties and coverage, so see if APC will take the unit back along with the battery, if the battery was used in a faulty machine it may have been damaged so i would return that too to make sure that the problem doesn't come back in the future.

I have a BX900R that suddenly the red light came

If the device was still under warranty, you should call APC support and ask to send it in for repairs or replacement. Just keep politely asking, and ask to talk to their superior whenever they say it isn't possible and eventually you will get an RMA ticket/number.
If the device is not under warranty, you might be able to convince APC to service the device for a fee.

I bought replacement batteries for APC XS900

Measure the voltages of the replacement batteries with a Voltmeter - are they lower than its' full charge? Allow them to charge before you connect any load to the UPS. It might take several hours before they fully charge. Occasionally measure the batteries in circuit to see if they are charging - you will need a Voltmeter again.

I have an APC XS

You need to reset the unit to recognize the new battery, I had same problem with one apc smart ups on the bench the other day.

On ours we had to turn off the unit unplug the battery wait 5mins

press the on key and hold for 20secs

reconnect battery

plug in to mains

and start as normal. We did this but still had very low battery time and the flashing lights, so we disconnected the comms interface, that sovled the problem.

It may work for your unit, suggest you check the manual before you try if you are unsure

Hope this helps

Got overload message; batteries were a year old so

Overload has nothing to do with the batteries being old or new...it has to do with with how much watts you are sending through the unit...if the overload protection fault is on, it is because it is sensing that if the power were to go out the UPS would not hold up the load at all. I do not recommend to load the ups more than half of the load. visit a batteriesplus store near you and they can help you with this in more detail. www.batteriesplus.com
