My ethernet ports are down and i dont have the

Look in your manual that came with the motherboard or if you don't have the manual get onto the internet download it. Find what the manufacturer and part # of the LAN chip is and go on their site and download the driver to a memory stick. You may sometimes need more than one driver too so be thorough. Once you have what you need load it onto your maching. Good luck.

I have an ASUS A8S-X Motherboard with a FX60

The symptom you have could easily be caused by a old battery. Typically computers use cr232 batteries which can be easily replaced. Turn off the machine, up plug it for 2 minutes, take the cover off and look for the battery. It is about the size of a dime. It will be held with a latch of some sort.
Buy a replacement battery at most battery locations and replace. Note which side is up on the old battery before you take it out; the larger size or smaller size; replace with the new one the correct way.
Hope this information will help.

A8S-X no sound with vista

The latest XP drivers should do the job. Uninstall the drivers that you already installed. Unzip the driver files to a temp directory, then instruct the Found New Hardware wizard to search in the temp directory for drivers, or click on Update Driver through Device Manager then point the Wizard to search in the temp directory: SoundMax ADI1986A Audio Driver V5.12.1.5430 for Windows 2000/XP/2003: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/A8S-X/ADI1986A2000XP.zip

A8S-X restart problems

Silver Dragon isn't thinking about the problem here. It is related to the BIOS Hanging. The System doesn't POST so how could it possibly be a program?
I have the same problem with a customer computer and after reading many posts on the internet, I have come to the conclusion that these motherboards (ASUS A8S-X) are junk.
I have been building PC's since 1986 when I opened my business and sold my first custome built 286-10 system.
There is something inherantly unstable ablout these motherboards and from what I can gather, the AI for the overclocking feature is on crack and doesn't properly set itself up so that it overclocks the CPU to the point it will not operate. Many people have tried many approaches to solve this problem, but none works consistantly. My suggestion is to call ASUS and tell them you've done some reading and by now they know the design is defective and you want a replacement or refund.
The reason you can post after a reset, is that the board returns to default settings and is then pretty much useless as you can not select with boot device to use or anyhting else that is BIOS-centric. The system hangs on restart and the only way to continue is to return to BIOS Default settings nulifying the entire set-up process. The most common errors I have found to be the BIOS Checksum error and the Overclocking error.
This Board Is A JOKE. ASUS should be ashamed of themselves. REALLY!

Not recognizing hard drives

It sounds like your hard drive might not be formatted.  If the hard drive supplied a utility to do this you might try it.  If not you can do it through windows xp.

There is a link to some basic instructions of how to format the drive in windows.

PC WONT START ASUS A7S8X-MX

So if i'm getting this correctly your computer will not boot even with just the basics.  Have you tried directly shorting the pins on the mobo instead of using the power button?  Unlikely problem but it would be an easy fix.  You might also want to take your power supply out and get it tested.  The geek squad at best buy will usually do that for free, or you can buy your own tester, or buy a cheap power supply.  If both the switch and power supply are good and you get nothing trying to start it up it means you probably have a bad mobo.  If your memory or cpu was bad and nothing else it would still boot up just without anything on the screen and might give you a series of beeps.  Well I hope i've helped and that you can get this fixed soon.

ASUS A*S-X not recognizing cpu

you should be able to press F2 or Del on boot up to get into the bios, but you should replace the battery first then set everything up as the cmos has obviously lost it's saved settings because the battery is flat.

As8-v abit motherboard

Hi, the most common cause of this type of problem is the on/off switch on your case. See if you can get a spare one from another computer and plug it onto your board in place of the original one for a test. If this is not the cause then it would be worth checking the power supply, even if there is a LEED light on the motherboard there could still be insufficeint power to boot up. Regretablely the next conclusion is your motherboard. Goodluck with this regards mistyman
