Your unit is low on freon from a sealed system leak. The sealed system should have a 5 year warranty. You need an authorized LG tech to write it up for an exchange. Check your manual and call an LG service dealer.

Call Heat Controller in Tennesse they distribute this although it is made by LG

Maybe the room is dry enough so the humidity sensor is turning it off?

If not, maybe the thermisensor(fuse) on the fan motor is failing?

Several possible problems. Filter clean? As strange as this may sound you may have lost a little refrigerant. If problem persists after filter is cleaned, then a Tech needs to look at it.

I did a little digging around on the internet and found out that if the basement (or where ever you have your unit) is in an area where the room temp might dip below 65 degrees the coils may start to become "too efficient" in pulling the moisture/humidity out of the air and it begins to freeze on the coils before it can drip off into the reservoir. The site said to turn off the unit and let it thaw out, then restart it and see if everything works ok after that. If the temperature gets too low you might need to warm up the air in the room/basement before it will operate correctly again/not continue to freeze up. Hope this helps. Mine just did the same thing but we've had some pretty cold weather recently and the basement is fairly cold as well.

If you get a fault code CH 01, check the posting for that solution and see if it helps.

It sounds like you need to check the drain under the cooling section. It can fill with dust, lint, cat hair, spiders, etc. and prevent water from draining into the bucket. First, unplug the unit. Don't do anything with AC power present. Then, remove the 2 screws under the front panel where the air filter slides up in and pull off the control panel. There are "snap" latches in the plastic near the top that can be (are) hard to undo, so be careful. You might want to have work gloves on because of sharp edges. Prying with a screw driver will cause permanent dents in the plastic. Also, there is a small, sleeved bunch of wires that goes up the left side to the operator buttons and display. Be careful not to damage it and the circuit board it goes to. Set the front panel aside, wire attached. There is no need to disassemble any of that. The drain is a small 3/8" hole in the black plastic floor of the cooling area at the front, right side. It seems to have a fitting for a hose that feeds through to the back of the unit. Clean any foreign material from it and everything else. Test it, with the bucket in place, by pouring some water in, if you want to. Then clean the dust off of everything so it looks new. Don't get the circuit board wet. Re-assemble, being careful with the front panel wire so it is not pinched and does not prevent easy removal/installation of the filter, and it should be OK.

This is more of a tip since I have not actually fixed anything yet. As a test, remove the upper front cover where the buttons and displays are. (2 screws on the bottom then pull off a the plastic snaps) Inside the case on the far left, there is a piece of crimped copper tubing, open on the top end, welded to the refrigerant line, with a black sleeve covering 2 wires out the bottom end. This is a thermistor. I CAREFULLY applied heat with a butane lighter (the mini torch kind, not the "candle flame" kind), taking care not to burn anything. I applied ONLY enough to make it slightly warm to the touch. Do not think of melting anything, as this is not the purpose. Applying too much heat could damage the thermistor. With the bucket in place, the unit started right up. After I did this, it failed again in a few minutes, so I heated it again, and thus verifying it as the source. I have done it a third time, never getting it much over room temperature, and it is still running after almost an hour after doing nothing else. Since this temperature sensing is an analog function to the microcontroller that runs everything, the fault could be any bad connection or solder joint along the way from this thermister to the controller. But is sure appears something in thermistor. I hope my description is complete and clear. Good luck.

Your problem may be the thermistor that causes the CH01 trouble code.
