Kenmore 62622 Microwave Oven - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Microwave makes loud buzzing sound when on and no heat
Have you tried putting a cup of water in it and cooking on a low power level?
If it buzzes only when it is on the cook cycle, that would narrow it down.
More detals might help us help you, including the model number.
Microwave is arcing
The inside of the microwave has a hood and when metal becomes exposed causing it to arc, white enamel paint that has worn off will show the same result. If not fixed the magnetron will be destroyed.
Unit "Locked"
"Locked" on the display is an indication that your microwave oven has a Safety Lock feature that allows you to lock the keyboard. It can inadvertently be set as a result of the consumer pressing and holding the wrong buttons and during power interruptions. You need to refer to the owner's manual under the Operator Controls section to see which buttons you need to press and hold to turn the feature on/off. If you no longer have an owner's manual, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER, so that I can provide you with a more conclusive solution. To answer your initial question, the oven SHOULD still be operational, but it needs to be unlocked in order to fully determine this. I hope this helps you.
NOTE: On many microwave oven models simply pressing and holding the CANCEL/OFF button for 3 to 5 seconds will turn the lock on/off. If not...please let me know.
