What you are describing is a problem with the magnetron and it has become faulty, that is the main part that heats the food, the growling sound indicates it is loading down the power transformer that energizes the magnetron. For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

The
first thing I would suggest is a hard

minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.
If that doesn't work,
leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes. Then I would refer you to the owner's manual.

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they
list there are all free, they will ask you to register.
Many times, the owner's manual will also have the installation
instructions
inside.
If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it
through the Sears
parts site.

If some keys are still unresponsive, your membrane keypad has failed.
This can be due exposure to excessive heat, moisture or condensation, such as due to storage in an unheated building.
It's usually economical to order a whole new controller here.

Go to partselect.com and look for a ignitor.
When on this site... you will be asked to put in you model # which you will find in the drawer below oven.
This is a very simple project which should be about half hour to replace.
No electrical to turn off, no gas to turn off. Just a screwdriver, and the job is finished
