Most microwave ovens contain a heavy transformer that produces a lethally high voltage that is half-wave rectified by a diode, smoothed by a capacitor and drives a magnetron. The transformer also provides a low voltage for the magnetron cathode heater. There are also lightweight microwaves that use an inverter instead of a transformer... If everything else is ok and power is being supplied to the transformer then one of the above components has failed but testing them is beyond the scope of the handyman, though with care some ohm meter checks can be carried out in a unit that is disconnected from the supply and if the capacitor isn't fitted with a discharge resistor great care must be taken to ensure it is fully discharged before handling it.

Remove the control panel, take pictures of the door switch wiring while they are still connected to the door switches, then remove the door switch assembly. Have someone at the appliance store check each switch and repair the ones that are defective. I purchased a switch for $7, reinstalled the door switch assembly and the microwave is working fine now.

Perhaps it is the sound of the underside of the oven platter becoming engaged with the drive spigot underneath it. If so it may well be normal for your particular oven.

Convection needs fan drive to force the air into the oven cavity. The fan may be direct motor drive or belt driven. If the latter the belt may be broken or simply have stretched and come off. Before removing the cover of the oven in attempt to carry out any maintenance such as replacing the Oven cavity lamp, make sure the oven is disconnected from the power point ! The voltages in a microwave oven ARE LETHAL !

Hi Toan, first question is how old is the microwave? If it is less than 5 years with no other problems, then yes it's worth fixing. If it's older than 5 years or has other minor problems it might not be worth it. Check the cost of new before fixing and call a repair company in your area to compare prices. Hope that helps.
