Glass does not rotate
If the oven is still heating, but the carousel isn't turning, this problem is commonly attributed to a turntable motor that has worn out and may need to be replaced. The motor is attached to the center plastic piece (called a turntable shaft or coupler) under the middle of the glass tray. The following link explains how to access and replace one:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3555716-replacing_a_turntable_motor_on_a_microwaThis is a very simple repair, that usually is not expensive. The price range will be determined by the model and manufacturer. This repair can also be performed on an over the range model microwave oven WITHOUT uninstalling it.

GE JVM1870SF02 - not heating up anything!!
I had the same problem with mine, and discovered, somehow, that when I manually turned on the "vent fan", the microwave worked fine. A bit of a pain, but it heated up the food when it hadn't been prior to the vent fan being on. Can't understand why it solved it, but it's been working like that for about a year now. When I forget to turn on the vent fan though, the food is just as cold as when I put it in.

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. If it’s a loud hum/buzz sound then 90% it’s usually a bad magnetron and other times it’s a bad high voltage diode. However, from what you have described it seems to be the magnetron. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks

Microwave want cook/microwave
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Microwave not heating properly is caused by a
power relay going bad, cold solder joint on the board and/or magnetron (this is
only if it makes a loud hum/buzz sound). Also please check the door hooks
and the door-release button. Please do accept the solution if the issue is
resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which
we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.Details of our service are at

You should keep it unplugged until it's fixed. If it's cooking while it should be off, that can damage the oven or even start a fire.
It's either a failed door switch or door switch mount, or a bad electrolytic capacitor on the control board, which we can repair for $39.95.
If you're hearing a fan or motor running, I'd suspect the switch. See
this file for help.
If it's a buzz (like a power line buzz) then I'd suspect the board capacitor.
Feel free to contact me directly (and
please include your full model number from the tag in or on the

You need to first verify that your outlet is correct at 105 to 125 volts AC.
If so, then you may have a failing high voltage transformer (rare) or possibly a failing magnetron, etc.
There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components. At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.Accessing some components for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall.
If
so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have
two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Where is the fuse in this model? Where do I get a
Hi,
Thanks for using Fixya.
These are the steps for changing the fuse of your microvave:-
1.Unplug your microwave. Although it might seem like no electrical current could possibly be running through your appliance, it could still have stored electrical current somewhere in the system. Be safe rather than sorry and unplug it before you begin.
2.You can contact GE directly to get the wiring diagram if you cannot locate it as it comes with your device along with manuals . Note the fuse locations and get a screwdriver. Some GE fuses are located under the louvers, while others are located in the door.
3.Open up the microwave and locate the blown fuse. Sometimes you cannot determine a blown fuse by visual inspection so check it with a multimeter for continuity across the terminals.
4.Replace the blown fuse. Go to your local hardware store and pick up a matching fuse. Make sure you check the model numbers of the fuse as well to be sure you get the right component. Install the new fuse and put everything back together.
5.Check the continuity of the circuit if you continue to have power problems. If you have a problem with continuity in the circuit, then you may have a bigger problem than just a blown fuse. Sometimes a power surge will fry a GE microwave's circuit board, which you will need to replace.
Good Luck and have a nice day

Hi there,
I checked this very quickly for you, and you should be able to get this at your nearest appliance parts store. It's not a rare lamp, so you should try this first. Otherwise, you can go online and order it. Whereas, if you're not in a hurry, it would run you about $15.00 total (including shipping and handling). It's about a $5.00 part otherwise. Just bring the lamp, or all the information you have here - and that'll help the clerk. I believe this a 20 watt lamp also. Anyway, I hope this helps you. Good Luck, and feel free to contact me if you have any further electrical or lighting problems. - Jim

Glass inside does not rotate now
The problem is typically the turntable motor, it is accessible by first disconnecting the power then removing the lower panel that houses the filters and lights. You will see a small device with 2 wires that looks similar to this
The next most common thing to fail would be the coupling that attaches to this motor and sits inside the oven, you can take the glass tray out and lift the coupling, check for cracks or breaks, try running the microwave for a few seconds without the table and see if the coupling turns with the weight of the table on it. This may indicate a stripped coupling.
The 3rd component and most expensive to fail is the control itself, there is either a relay or diode on the control that sends a signal to the motor to turn. You should verify that you have power to the motor before replacing it.
I hope this helps
Ge spacemaker xl1800 microwave
F3 on a GE microwave indicates a defective keypad.
The keypad is a thin plastic membrane type that is glued to the plastic control panel frame.
If none or only some of the pads are working, there may be some foreign substance on the circuit board, the keypad connection, or inside the layers of the keypad, the latter of which cannot be repaired.
Trouble is sometimes due to spray cleaner being sprayed directly onto the keypad. Cleaner should be sprayed on the cloth first, then use the cloth to wipe the keypad clean.
Never use an ammonia-based cleaner on plastic as the ammonia can attack and crack it.
A handy person can remove the control panel frame and see if there's any liquid inside on or behind the panel. If so, it is possible to dry it out, but often that does not work.
Another thing is to unlpug the power at the mains for several seconds. Plug it back in and see if it works. A reset may do it.
At power-up, the display should flash or show a text message. If not, a key may be stuck due to a foreign substance or a defective keypad.
If certain keys are not working, there may be some foreign substance at the point where the green or blue plastic strip from the keypad plugs into the circuit board.
To check that, see our critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site. You'll find a link to our site in our
listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
1. Be sure the oven is disconnected from the power line while you are taking it apart.
2. The keypad connection is the green or blue translucent plastic strip that plugs into a connector near the edge of the board.
3. There are two tiny tabs (one on each side) of the connector that you can gently pull up on to unlock the connector.
4. Then the keypad strip will lift out. Clean both sides of the end of the strip with a pencil eraser or alcohol-based cleaner if you like, but do not use ammonia-based cleaner. Dry the end of the strip.
5. Put the keypad strip back in, making sure both sides are down fully.
6. While holding the strip down, push the connector back down to lock it.
7. Try the keys again with the door closed.
