I have a GE spacemaker XL 1800 microwave oven made

The magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

GE Profile Spacemaker XL 1800;

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is electrolytic capacitor that fails on the control circuit board, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one-year repair guarantee.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

My turntable quit turning.

Yes you can if it is just the "rubber band" drive...could be gunk too. Will come out thru back after taking cover off. If not the band could be the drive itself and just buy another as this can get expensive.

Is there a filter that can be repaced in this

If your unit is set up to ventilate to the outside, there should be a metal grease filter, which should be cleaned in hot soapy water whenever it gets greased up.

It's important to be sure that your ductwork and outside vent flapper are clear, too. Animal nests can block them.

If it is set up to recirculate, it should have a charcoal filter in it, and those should be replaced (they cannot be cleaned) about every six months or so, depending on your usage.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts (including filters) by entering your full model number here.

Adora Space maker XL1800 has problem right now..

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace a separately available keypad yourself, I have uploaded a
handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number* here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.

But please note that for some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

To see if this is the case for your model, enter your full model number* here.

Ge spacemaker xl 1800 just

When a microwave just stops heating it is usually either the power diode or the capacitor. There is a very remote chance of a magnatron failure. You will need to open the cabinet and remove the cover.

This is not a difficult or expensive repair. IF by chance you attempt self repair make sure the unit is unplugged and that you ground the capacitor 3 times before prceeding with any testing.

You disconnect one end of the diode and read across the terminals. One direction it will read like a wire and the other it will read open. (Good) If it reads continuity in both directions it has failed. If it reads open in both directions it has failed.

Checking the capacitor you simply probe across the terminals with a meter watching for a jump on the meater EACH time the tests leads are REVERSED. No Jump leads reversed = bad capacitor.

The parts for your microwave are readily available at any local appliance parts supply. If you walk in with the part in hand they will have a suitable replacement or have it within 4 hours. (Usually)

You have not blown a fuse as the turntable and control panel still function. Often this type of failure causes the fuse to blow.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The microwave will not heat up any food

The magnetron (the part that heats the food) may be bad or the circuitry to the magnetron may have burned out. Basically my advice is that if you have no electrical expertise, it isn't worth fixing. The magnetron if bad, costs almost as much as a new microwave. If you open it up (make sure it has been unplugged for a few hours and don't seen any obvious burnt parts (including a fuse and the diodes), then most likely the magnetron is done and a new microwave is the way to go.

Let me know how this works out for you.
