My Sony KDS-R60XBR1 60 inch HDTV came on for a few

Hi,
7 blinks is an error code for "Audio Error" upon self check of the unit. It will not power up and will repeat the symptoms unless the faulty parts are isolated. This was caused by short-circuit of Audio power line in the K board. Faulty parts are the following :
1. PS3001 - Open fuse in K board.
2. IC3005 - shorted 12vdc line regulator IC.
You must replaced this two parts so that the unit will back to normal operation again.
If you don't have necessary tools and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified TV technician to isolate and replaced this parts.
Also, you may replaced the entire K board for your convenient, click this LINK to place your order online. Board replacement has no soldering required, just pull-out the connectors from the defective board and put in the new board.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Green light keeps blinking will

Hi,

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV.
The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated.

If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Blink on standby green after awhile then blink red

The blinking green light signals that the inverter board is charging the bulb. If the blinking goes to red it means that this process has failed because either the inverter board is not full operational or the bulb itself has failed.
Most likely you will have to replace the bulb - here it is

If this doesn't fix it then you will have to check the inverter and power boards and replace the failing one.

Tv wont power on and

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Good luck....

HI: This is an indication of a bad optics engine that need to be replaced. The LCD's inside the unit are going bad. The only way to repair this is to replace the Optics engine. You can check for a new engine at www.tristatemodule.com they have rebuilt engines for very low cost.

My kds-r60xbr2 power light blinks

The power light is a part of your TV's self diagnostic system. It will blink out particular codes to help identify specific areas of concern. That particular code indicates that pin 129 of IC7002 is low (not detecting the -5 volts signal that should be present). There are a number of issues that can cause this problem, the most common being a power supply error or the thermistor that is located beside the lamp compartment. You can try and bypass the thermistor to see if that is the issue. Most of the issues that will cause this code will mean the dis-assembly of the TV, and if the thermistor is not the issue, then the power supply is probably causing the issue.

If you do not have the training, experience, and tools necessary to undertake the repairs I would strongly advise against trying to do it yourself. There are lethal voltage levels inside the TV, and one stray static shock can destroy a lot of the components inside the of it. If you do have the experience and tools, and do not have a copy of the service manual, you can download a copy of the manual at the following website:
