Remote keyboard

Hi, By remote i suppose you mean your Wireless keyboard. if that is the case then simply log into your wireless router. All you need to do it to change your WiFi broadcasting channel. Go to WiFi or Wireless Lan setting and make sure that broadcasting is b/g/n mixed mode, then check what broadcasting channel is selected starting from 1 to 11/13, in case of extreme start or end make in middle like 6 or 7 and in case of any middle number like 6 to 8 make it either 10 or 3. By changing the broadcasting channel shall hopefully stop any interference with other frequencies. Good Luck

I can't remember my passwoed for my d-link router

Hi, You will have to reset it to a new one by using a hardware reset option at the back of router. Put in IP address of router in to your browser. Then it shall ask you for ID and password. Enter `Admin` or `admin` as ID and `Password` or `password` as password. You will see a web based setup opened in front of you. Go to the Wireless Lan settings and then you will SSID so change the SSID and this would be your network`s name. Then go to subsection security and select WPA2-PSK or simple WPA-PSK then enter your desired network key. Once done with all these things the click apply and reboot if prompted. Good Luck

Forgot my password for wrt120n

Looking for the Linksys WRT120N default password? You probably have little reason to access your router on a regular basis so don't feel too bad if you've forgotten the WRT120N default password.

However, when you're troubleshooting a network problem and need to get in to the device, the WRT120N default password suddenly becomes very important.

For most versions of the Linksys WRT120N, the default password is admin. As with most passwords, the WRT120N default password is case sensitive.

In addition to the WRT120N default password, you can also see the WRT120N default username and WRT120N default IP address in the table below.

Note: The Linksys WRT120N default password may be different for certain hardware orfirmware versions.

If I have that information, I'll include the exact WRT120N version number along with the correct default password. You can usually find your Linksys WRT120N version number on the bottom of the router.

Be sure to change the default router password on your WRT120N to something more secure as soon as you're in. Then use a free password manager so you'll never forget your new WRT120N password.Help! The WRT120N Default Password Doesn't Work!

At some point during the life of your particular Cisco Linksys WRT120N, the default password, username, and/or IP address might have been changed.

In most cases, if the Linksys WRT120N default IP address has been changed, the new IP address for the WRT120N will be the same as the default gateway IP address configured for your network connection.

See How To Find the Default Gateway IP Address for help.

In situations where the WRT120N default password or WRT120N default username has changed, you'll need to reset the Linksys WRT120N to factory defaults. You can usually do that via a special button or sequence of actions.

The WRT120N manual will have specific directions for performing a factory default reset. You can download the manual for the WRT120N from Linksys Support.

Please let me know if any of the WRT120N default login data below needs updated. For other questions about the WRT120N default information on this page, see my Default Password FAQ.WRT120N Default Password & Other Default Login DataVersionDefault UsernameDefault PasswordDefault IPPrivilegesAll[none]admin192.168.1.1Administrator

How to connect to desktop

In my experience, you very rarely actually need the disk for the router to connect another computer. If you're using an ethernet connection (since you say desktop) you should just be able to run it to the computer. Make sure your computer has its NIC drivers installed (in all likelihood that's not a problem) and give the computer a good reboot and that's that. If you're connecting wirelessly, using Windows you can open your network connections via the control panel. Right click your wireless adapter and connect using windows. If you need the wireless SSID/Security Key or anything else, you can get that using any computer already working with the router by logging into the DLink If you're using a USB connector to connect, you'll want the CD for that.

Hi , when i go

Make the FixYa experience better for everyone by voting.

Hi,

My name is Ben and I'm your guru, i.e., mentor, an influential teacher or popular expert: a management guru. - origin from Sanskrit, 'weighty, grave' for today.

As you evaluate my advice and suggestions, there are a few things you must keep in mind:

• I did not diagnose your problem and am therefore only able to evaluate what you tell me. For example, if you ask me a fuse location, that doesn't mean that I can tell you the reason why the fuse blew.
• A thorough diagnostic approach involves the use of technical equipment, such as voltage meters. scanning equipment and other sophisticated devices.
• Lastly, fixing one problem can very easily reveal a problem with something that you might consider unrelated. If that happens, you might want to view me as being incompetent but I must rely on what you do or do not tell me.

Subject: Unable to connect to Internet with a wireless router

Customer's exact description: Hi , when i go to the site 192.168.0.1, I put in "Admin" and leave the password blank, I still cannot log in. can you help me out? I need to create a password.

Discussion: I'm assuming that you are running a recent version of Microsoft Windows such as XP, Vista or 7. This will be a three (3) phase solution. It is imperative that each step be followed in order.

First Step:

Let's make certain that your operating system is ready to accept your router. Click on the following link and Microsoft will analyze your system and correct any deficiencies. Microsoft Fixit Site.

Second Step:

Make certain that your router is up-to-date.

Updates are regularly posted on the manufacturer's site to fix issues you encountered while attempting to use their device. The following will guide you on how to keep your device updated and working properly.

These are the common reasons why you need to do an upgrade:

• Dropping or intermittent connection
• Fix the bugs and known issues with the current firmware or driver version
• Basic Troubleshooting did not work

NOTE: For basic troubleshooting tips in wirelessly connecting to your router, please refer to your user manual.

Firmware updates are required especially if you start experiencing connection problems within your local network. An updated firmware also fixes the bugs of its previous version as well as providing new functionalities for the device. However, this should only be done after doing some basic troubleshooting that did not work.

NOTE: Updating the router's firmware is not recommended if there are no connectivity issues.

Adapters

A driver update for your adapter is necessary in order to enhance the wireless performance and functionality of your device. This is recommended especially if the adapter is not working properly after you updated the router or the computer itself. A corrupted driver will cause your adapter to stop working.

QUICK TIP: For Ethernet and wireless adapters, you need to download drivers while for devices such as routers, gateways and network access storage, you need to download the firmware. The table below will show the type of file you will download according to your device.

Third Step:

Connecting to the Internet using a Router

Choose a convenient location to begin installing your router, such as an open floor space or table. This does not need to be the permanent location of the router. For wireless routers, it may be necessary to re-position the unit after installing it as the signals may not reach all areas needed.

  • Unplug the power to your Internet modem.
  • Power down your computer(s).
  • Plug the power in to your router.
  • Connect your Internet modem to the router. The cable plugs into the router jack named "WAN" or "Internet". Turn on your Modem.
  • Connect one computer to the router. Even if the router is a wireless model, connect this first computer to the router via a network cable.
  • Turn on the computer.
  • From the computer connected to the router, open your web browser. Enter the router's address, http://192.168.2.1, and press Enter on your keyboard.
  • Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.

To configure the router to connect to the Internet, you must enter information provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) into the "Connection Type" section in the left-hand column under the "Internet WAN" heading of the router's configuration page. If using DSL Internet, you may need to enter the PPPoE username and password. Likewise, if you have been issued a static IP address by your provider, the static IP fields (including network mask and gateway) must also must be set in the router.

Since this is a wireless router, change the network name (referred to as SSID). While the router comes to you with a network name set at the factory, you may want to use something more familiar for your network. Read Changing the Router's Wireless Channel and SSID -- or some other similiar language in your user guide --for a description of this process.

Verify that this computer can connect to the Internet properly. Open a new web browser and visit a few Internet sites such as Google.com or Yahoo.com.

Finally, configure additional network security features as desired to guard your systems against Internet attackers.

That's the three step program to solve this particular problem.

If you are still having problems, follow the steps outlined in the Windows operating instructions. Unfortunately, most individuals buy computers with the software installed by the manufacturer and don't receive the full manual.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on TOOLS
  3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS
  4. Click on CONNECTIONS
  5. Click on SETUP
  6. Click on I WANT TO SET UP MY INTERNET CONNECTION MANUALLY
  7. Click on NEXT
  8. Click on I CONNECT THROUGH A LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN)
  9. Click on NEXT
  10. Click on NEXT [this is not a typo]
  11. Click on TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET IMMEDIATELY .........; and,
  12. Click on FINISH

You should now be connected.

All the best,

Ben

192.168.0.1. and typing Admin does

If you already tried with username = admin password = blank "no password at all" or password = "password" then the only way to recover the router will be by doing a hard resset, (pressing the resset button in the back for 12 seconds) be careful you are going to set the router back to factory default and you will need to configure it again usually this is the only way to get the router back
