Did you ever get your Philips fixed?

I had the same problem with the same model. I took off the back of the television and checked the two small fuses. They were fine, unfortunately. So I bought the refurbished power board from Best Buy using the part number that I found on the web. Swapped out the board and the TV works fine. Now I need to know what to do with the old board. I feel badly throwing it away since it is probably some simple part.

No picture, sound only

First make sure to hit the menu button on the TV's remote and if nothing is there then friend while the set is on turn a bright flashlight on and shine at angle into the set push the TV menu button if you can see a image then your back light is not working.
You can also check the transformers they are close to were the wires plug into the panel, make sure all transformers read the same amount of resistance if not you have found a bad one. Now you will have to check to see if the power supply is sending 24v to the backlight, if not the power supply is bad. Cost backlights around 150.00 and power supplies around 100.00. Well this should help you friend.

I tried turning my Philips Flat Tv by pressing the

Unplug your unit for 5 minutes and plug it back in - turn it on - if problem persists then your TV's power supply is finished.

No it is not your circuit breaker or fuse otherwise you would not get ANY power to your outlet and would not see a blinking light. It sounds like a bad power supply.

This is may cost you a lot of money to repair - I hope your TV is under warranty.

Red led blinks 4 times.no picture or sound unplug

Hi my name is Eric,
I hope I can help you with your issue ,
here is what it sounds like it might be:
It could be just a few bad capacitors on the power supply, if you want to attempt the repair yourself you can do a visual of the power board caps will appear swollen on top.
The ones you are looking for are located almost center bottom of the power board,Usually I can see them clearly with the back on simply shining a light into the back through the holes.
look at the photo I am uploading to see what a bulging cap looks like
With the back removed you will see a few circuit boards the upper one (ac cord runs to it through a small board) is the power supply, it has alot of capacitors on it (cylindrical standing straight up soldered in and marked on the sides with the positive/negative sides and MF and Volts values)
Philips uses 2200Mfd or 3300mfd at 35Volts rating capacitors, they cost about $1-$2 each
usually I replace two of them (or all the bulged on top ones) .
The power board and back unscrew with a torx bit and screwdriver size 10 and 15 , if you do not know how to desolder and resolder then do not attempt this as you may damage the TV more than fix it.
We do not recommend do it yourself, but depending on your knowledge and technical ability you may be able to.
You can replace the whole power supply, but Philips has a few versions in their sets and some so called replacements won't fit due to cable location (sockets) being in a different spot.
If there is a blinking red light on the TV count the blinks,if it still blinks after replacing the swollen cap this would indicate a bad buffer board ,
check the capacitors by looking for the swollen tops I hope thats all it is (usually is), if there are no bad caps post again so I can tell you buffer troubleshooting steps and locations.
here is Philips Phone # 1-888-744-5477 in case you need it for exact part #s

The tv will not stay on. it powers up and then

failed power board. It comes on and turns off because the sensor detects a power variant to what it should be ( overload, due to faulty IC chip and Capacitors)

Flashing light

Most likely it going to be a power supply related problem. The red blinking light is a code for a TV tech to diagnose the problem on the main power supply board itself or the board that regulates the power for the screen. Some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board. A TV repair shop should be able to look at it for you and tell you which board is bad.
Replacement boards can be found at a good price at Shopjimmy.com

37" Philips LCD no sound.

Maybe the antenna that you are using is not picking up sound from the channels. It could also be the cable. If it makes a humming noise, it means that the speakers are getting electric current and that they SHOULD be okay. It also could be your tuner. Maybe check it all out at some tech place like best buy. Those guys can help

When i turn on my 37

I have this same model LCD and the same menu issue. I solved the problem by downloading the latest software directly from Philips Electronics. See link below to take you directly to the download page as it is rather buried otherwise.

Philips 32 LCD TV sound no picture

If an LCD TV has sound but no picture do the following:

Use the source button to ensure that source is not set to the wrong input.

Try unplugging power cord for ten minutes, to ensure it is not a setting problem.

Check all the video cables at the back of TV.

Check Light /Color settings.

If problem persist and does not depend on external receiver or settings, then it is likely an internal fault.

If it has sound but no picture then one of the following parts is faulty, and must be tested and replaced:

Theinverter is the high voltage board that provides variable power to thebacklight lamp. This is the most common. When inverter is faulty youcan get no picture, or a very dim picture that can only be seen bypointing a torch light with a 45 degree angle on the LCD surface fromvery near distance.
The inverter must be tested by reading voltages with a multimeter.

The LCD ribbon cable/LCD display and connectors.
Thisis quite uncommon, but happens. If the TV had been hit or moved the LCDcable may have slipped out, or the LCD connector may be damaged.

The LCD controller board.
Thisis the board that controls the video signal, it is difficult to test,as there is need to read determined values on IC pins. To test thisboard you need to purchase a service manual and follow thetroubleshooting diagrams on service manual.

Input/Output Signal boards.
This are the boards where youconnect the video and audio cables, if a signal board is defective, then you may get no picture on particular inputs located on faultyboard.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual.

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Model 37PF9731D /10

It sounds like a bad capacitor on the audio board or the speaker themselves are the problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Tv doesn't turn on

Nothing you did wrong caused this problem. Most likely the power supply for the screen failed.
It's best to use the warranty for the TV to fix this problem. Because, parts and labor will cost more than the TV is worth. Here's a link to get you started on the warranty:
