Need to unlock gateway 7330GZ hdd

So who put the password on it? 99% of the time if there is a Hard Drive Password and the person in possession of the laptop don't know the password, the laptop is stolen. The original owner put the password lock on the hard drive to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The owner could have set the password remotely once the laptop was stolen. Your system is toast. The only remedy is to get the original owner to remove the password.

Gateway 7330gz will only run few seconds then turn off

Remove the battery and run off of the A/C power adapter without the battery installed.

If it works, the battery is just discharged too much. After Windows settles, insert the battery and let it charge.

Our laptop screen goes white and when it does, if I push on the back of the screen, it comes back on. So obviously something is loose that just needs to be bumped or pressed on to work again. Does a

You would have to take apart the top-case of your laptop(the plastic encasing the LCD). Behind the LCD there is a cable that plugs into it that goes down to the motherboard. Reseat that cable and test again to see if that fixed the issue. It is actually quite a common issue in my line of work as an IT consultant.

Gateway laptop was connecting to internet wirelessly, not now

Check that if there is Static ip configured on your Lan-Card...

if yes.. then you need to configure the IP addresses manually for W-LAN as well.

One more thing; if Lan-card is not configured with static IP then

make sure your W-lan IP seting is on "obtain Ip automatically"

Here is the way to do this....

Click on the start orb to open a list of programs and content. The start menu has been replaced by the “start orb” which still gives you the same functionality as the start button from previous OS versions, but consumes less screen real estate.
Right click on “Network” and go to properties. That opens the “Network and Sharing Center” which is your central office for anything pertaining to (just as it says) networking or sharing resources.
On the left hand column you want to click on “Manage Network Connections.”

This opens the Network Connections Window which you will find familiar to Windows 2000/XP. It will list all of your NICs or Wireless Connections.
Right click and go to properties of the connection you would like to statically assign. You will now be prompted for an administrative password. This is part of Microsoft’s new User Account Control (UAC) which will help unauthorized changes to your systems.
Once you have authenticated you will see the properties of the selected network connection.

The properties screen is very similar to what you’ve seen in the past, but one thing you will likely notice is by default Windows Vista supports IPv6. If you’re on a corporate or government network that is running IPv6 you can fill in your IP information there.
Otherwise, you will select Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) and click properties. Now you will be able to Choose the option "Obtain Ip adress automaticlay"

Close the Network Connections Window

Let me know if this helps.. Good luck...

regards,

My gateway laptop 7330gz hard drive is locked and

Without that HD password, you are out of luck. Only thing you can do is install a new hard drive, and reload everything. You cannot even retreive any data you have on a passworded hard drive without the password.

Gateway 7330 gz shuts off or monitor flickers

This probably isn't a driver problem. Your backlight power cable is probably loose. You can tell by getting a flashlight and looking closely at your monitor while it's powered on. If you can see your desktop items then it's a backlight cable problem. I had the same problem with my Gateway. You can remove the front bezel from your display to get to the cable. I just pressed mine up into the display as much as possible and put a little hot glue on it to keep it from backing out. I never had the flickering problem again. Good luck.

Replacing laptop hinges

There are 2 set of cable that run from the display to the monitor, be very careful with it. In most cases, to remove these cables you need to disassemble the whole laptop. Now, since you are on Y changing the hinges, I think you can do it, just don't pull on the monitor too hard, and it needs to be place on a flat surface very close to the laptop. It's not that hard, you just need to be careful, that's all.

When i tern it on it is restarting an the screen is not coming up

Does it look like it started and booted up ok except the screen is blank? If so try the steps below.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barely see the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad. Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display. If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash light and nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card is bad. If it does not seem like it started up ok, then try the steps below.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord? When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason. Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short). Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoever when you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you was operating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cord is bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the power cord is bad. Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the battery out) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can put the battery back in and let it charge.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.
