Sony QUALIA 005 46 in. LCD Television Questions & Answers
LG DU-37LZ30
probably a power supply problem, modern tvs use switching power supplies. these power supplies sometimes fail after a long period of use due to the constant charging and discharging of the capacitors
Qualia 005 compatibility with Blue Ray, AND where can I find a stand and a wall mount?
I may be sticking my neck out on this one, but I don't believe there is a way to improve the input resolution. If I'm right, the issue is not related to a firmware upgrade but the hardware design of the board and IC's on them. I have the same issue with a Toshiba 1920 x 1080 resolution TV.
The best you can do is to set the blu-ray to output at 720P which is actually higher resolution than 1080i. Here's why. 1080i is actually two fields of 540 resolution interlaced or put another way one 540 image overlaying a second 540 to make one complete video frame.
Still you make the call as to which one looks best to you
Television
Some top brands in no particular order are, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Sony, Sharp, Toshiba. Bear in mind that within any brand, there are budget models, mid-range and top range models. The LCD panels will range in quality based on their price range. Features will improve with price as well. One top feature is 120 hertz refresh rate leading to very smooth motion. You may not require such smoothness. Size is probably the most overlooked consideration. Take the screen diagonal measure and double it for the closest distance the screen should be from your viewing location. Three times the screen should be the maximum. For a 42" screen it might be 42" x 2 = 84" or 7' minimum and 42" x 3" = 126" or about 10' maximum. Measure your existing viewing distance, go to a Best Buy and stand at that distance to see how it might look in your home. Don't get hung up on precision if you are a few inches outside of these guidelines.
If your viewing area is brightly lit from outside light, favor LCD. If you will be in a dark room, plasma TV's are an option, but they will run hotter, draw more power and will be heavier requiring a substantial mount to wall mount them, not a one man job.
Color
If you're using component video cables, check them at the jacks of the TV and video device on the other end of the cables. With component video cables try swapping two of the cables on both ends to see if you can get the color to change, if it does the problem is the cable. If the color doesn't change either the output of the source video device is bad or the TV is bad. Try a DVD player to see if the problem is your original video device. If the colors are good with the test DVD player, your original device is at fault.
Sony Qualia and Sony XBR 4 TV
wow. mostly all new set from the last few years have a dual tuners
NTSC and ATSC and that would depend if or which set will get the better signal. Also remember that off air is analog and the sets are now design for digital.
HDMI AUDIO NOT PASSING THROUGH?
OK try to connect all to tv and from tv connect the sound in digital to H/K receiver and you will have sound at the receiver no matter what.
Sony Qualia 46" TV Model # KDX 46Q005
This would mean that your signal is being lost. Instead of snow like from a analog signal you get digital breakup when you get low reception. You need to reposition your antenna or get a better one with a little more power. Nothing wrong with your tv though just not strong enough signal.
Thanks
