Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
Hi: Just because your lamp indicator is not on does not mean that its not time to replace the lamp. This light only comes on if the lamp shatters in its housing, but if the lamp is worn or faulty it will not light the lamp light just no picture symptoms replace your lamp first.
problem is called the optical block assembly. repair runs around 1200 dollars. if you call sony with your model# and serial # they may offer you a new tv at a discounted price. 1800-282-2848
Check the cables connecting the AGU, B and C boards. More than likely one is loose. If not this then related to optical block. Might need to have a Sony tech look at it.
In my experience, once damage is done to the LCD panel, it's not reversable. Any cleaning fluid with ammonia or ethanol can degrade the panel. As for it just being black, it sounds like pressure was applied to that area of the screen, possibly while cleaning and this might have damaged that area of the screen.
If you have not turned the TV off yet then do that. Turn it off and let it power down completely. If it has a fan then let the fan stop spinning. Wait about 5 minutes then turn the TV back on. If you still see blue then you may need a new bulb or the light engine in your TV has gone bad.
Sony KDF-E50A10 Standby red light is 5 times flashing, it is an error code that indicates problem with exhaust fan that is not working for some reason.
hello kittylou2
its hard to tell from distance what really wrong, but sounds to me like a cold soldering. pls let your tv check by local electronics service or authorized sony service.

The only fix for this issue or so i was told by the technician is a replacement and that costs about $1000. Hopefully you have an extended warranty to cover this repair.
I just had this issue with my TV of this model too. I was tolld it is the optical block. This part is about $1000 so hopefully you have an extended warranty to cover it.
The issue your having comes to mind as a bad power board, What happens over time is the electrolytic capacitors inside these Tv's bulge or just become un-usable.
Many power supplies are plagued by poor electronics components such as these and thus you have a TV with a power issue.
The best bet here is to purchase a new power board or locate the defective component and replace it.
Many cases this Tv would end up beside the dumpster awaiting the next pickup date witch pollutes the environment and creates a huge in-pact.
A repair shop would be a option but you will end up with a bill of $200-$400 bucks just for a power board change out!
What a TV tech would do is bring this in and test it with other parts. A TV tech is basically a person that graduated from some post- graduate or trade school and would charge you big money to simply switch out a power supply.
Many people like myself and others have been around the electronics repair era where we fix these broken items for Penny's on a dollar.
Do this at your own risk
If you steer to the internet with this and know basic soldering skills and electronics precautions I would suggest you dig into the unit at your own risk and purchase the components that are actually effected.
You can watch my you tube video on how I basically pulled a power board out of a LCD monitor and replaced its cap's. You can aslo go to my tips on how to search for bad caps and replace them using basic soldering skill.
Most probably it is an optical block issue. You can contact sony customer service to setup the free service.. If you need the contact infomation, please let me know where you're.
Hi,
Power supply board part number for Sony KDF-E50A10 is as follows:
A1113732A .... GT BOARD COMPLETE
and if you are asking for ballast power supply board part number, it is as under:
146893611 ... POWER SUPPLY BLOCK
Hope these info will help you. Thanks.
It is an indication that you have a faulty power supply most likely the leaky electrolytic capacitor on the main board but not all the time, lot of parts are going to consider to isolate the defective parts. It is not DIY and quite technical.
If your unit is under warranty then avail it from the manufacturer, they will fix it for free and/or little charge only.
If your warranty is already void then I've advice you to send it to a qualified service center/repair shop to isolate the faulty parts.
