Where did u bought this DVD player?US,Canada,and Mexico?The DVD disc. used NTSC region format.Asia,Europe,Africa,and the Middle East.The DVD disc. used PAL region format.They can't be mix or it will not play as u find out.If u move in and out to another region of the world.U must have a regions free DVD player to play either NTSC or PAL regions.

7. Press PLAY

This model cannot play real player video files your model work on DVD, CD, and on the following compressed file formats:

Compression formats - MPEG1 , MPEG2 , DivX 3.11 , DivX 4.x , DivX 5.x , DivX 6.0

Your player can play only mpeg , avi , and divx, not real player .rm files. I don't think there are many DVD that can play real player files around.

Try changing back to region 1. Let us know if it works

Regarding my problem well it look me a while but I got there in the end. What I had to do was type in a password which is in the manual at the back 136900 & after that the DVD worked. The only slight problem I have though now is that when I do wana watch a region 1 DVD its asking for that password everytime I put one on, as long as it works all the time I should be ok.

Sounds like there is a short in your AV cable. Move the video cable (marked with the yellow ends on it) and see it the color changes or use different set of av cables.

Got this one from the AWA tech - it worked for me

Turn Off Player
Turn On Player
Tray Should be closed
Using the remote choose 'Setup'
Using the Left/Right Arrow Key select The 'Preferences' Tab
Key in 8737
You should see a Box with the current Region Code
Use the Down Arrow key to change it to 0 (assuming you want region free) or select another number for a specific region
Hit enter (the play key) to exit this menu
Turn player off
Turn player on
load Disc

unplug 1st ! Open the unit.. look inside see if there is a nickel size battery in a clip on the ckt board. if you can, remove it and take the battery to radio shack to match it to a new one. put it back the same way you took the old one out. If you unit has a soldered in battery you will have to take the unit (if you can't solder) to a electronics repair shop. they should be able to fix you up for maybe $39 or so plus the cost of the battery.
