Fix windows 7 missing or corrupt drivers
Boot to a Windows 7 CD and run a repair. It's very good at solving issues like this. If you can boot into the OS, then go to an elevated command prompt and run: sfc /scannow
SFC = System File Check
You may have to go to device manager/hardware to see if drivers are missing. If so, you will need to get updated drivers. Get them from the manufacturer, not generic Microsoft drivers.
Did you get infected? Is this how it happened?
You can also run a chkdsk at an elevated command prompt.
Just type in chkdsk and press ENTER. That's a RO (read only) check. If you see error and it recommends a fix, type in: chkdsk c: /f and press ENTER. You will be asked if you wish to do this at next restart, choose Y and press ENTER.
If it stops and says it cannot continue, too many errors, etc. Then type in chkdsk c: /r and press ENTER.
/f is for fix
/r is for repair
Repair is more extensive, takes longer, will still ask you to choose to do this at next restart. If repairs surface damage on the drive and will move any data to a good area and then mark the old area bad. This generally means you're hard drive is going out. If so, run a diagnostics on the drive and write down the results. If under warranty, you will need to go this to Dell support to get a new drive. If it's not under warranty, do to support.dell.com, then warranty and look at your original configuration. It will tell you the make/model of the HDD. You can also get this in the Control Panel/System/Device Manager and then expand Disk Drives.
Cha cha ask online
Hi,
The computer works fine with external/ alternate screen so there is a possibility that the LCD screen has failed. However, I would suggest you to try running an LCD BIST using the below link:

Do reply with the results. Also check if the same issue happens in BIOS screen (F2 at startup).
Thanks and Regards.

How can I check my dell d820 screen? It stopped working
Hi, first:
try to connect to a VGA Monitor (it has DB15 Connectors(bing or google it) and usually in blue or black colors) and press and hold windows key then press P on your laptop keyboard or (peripheral PC keyboards) tap these shortcut for 2 or 3 times and see what happened, if you see any changes on monitor or see your screen on the VGA monitor your Graphic card is fine so go to the next step if not
maybe you have chipset problem or bios (UEFI) problem so go to the certified Repair shop,
next step:
some laptops have a shortcut key to turn your LCD off in expanding screen mode for decrease power consumption. try press (fn + keyboard key that sometimes has a rectangular icon with x icon on top of it) if you try but nothing changes or see white screen or glitch
screen pixels then 2 possible things happened,1- your LCD flat cable or 2- may be your Screen LCD damaged in this case go to certified repair shop center
best regards
Black screen on Dell D820
If you can still see the screen in the light then it is the backlight. There is a small board at the bottom of the screen of u replace that it should be fine. Common problem with these moddels.
Modem device high definition audio
You can connect to internet and follow the procedure
: -
go to --- my computer > right click on it > go to properties > device manager > click on the computer name shown in device manager screen >click scan for hardware changes > then the driver will install automatically .
The administrative password is different in the bios settings
You can reset the password easily by removing the battery which will clear the CMOS. If you aren't comfortable doing this, perhaps you can find someone who will do it for you. It's not hard to do, and you won't hurt anything as long as you unplug the computer and discharge any static from your body. (Just touch something metal - like the rails on your desk or something else.)
