I created map using 'Mapwel'
Hi,
I have the same issue on a Nuvi 350. Navigating to a POI is not a problem, whereas typing an address is not possible. My Nuvi350 is complaining about not being able to find the country...
Regards,
Geoffrey
Garmin Nuvi 360T won't find satellites
I should have posted this sooner. I got hold of Garmin about my problem with the nuvi 360. They were very nice about it and had me send the unit to them and they sent me a new one. It was that simple. I never found out what the problem was but the explanation from the other guy makes sense...... that the internal battery wore out and had to be replaced. I am very happy with Garmin products and am glad everything worked out.
My gps says "no

To get your unlock codes you must have registered your satnav. If you haven't already done so you can by connecting your satnav to your computer. Go to www.garmin.com Click on myGarmin and then on Register Your Garmin Product. You'll have to create a username and password to register. My garming says no detailed
Press Tools, then press Settings, then press Map, then press Map Info. There should be a tick beside the map name. If not press the map name and a tick will appear. The problem should then be solved.
If that doesn't solve the problem it may be because the map is locked. If so go to www.garmin.com and if the satnav is registered click on My Garmin, then on Maps where you'll find the unlock code. If the satnav is not registered you'll need to connect it to the computer and register it first.
My gps works up to the point that it cannot locate satellites
Try answering yes. If the original location has been lost due to battery replacement etc, These devices go to a home location which may be anywhere to begin looking for the satelites. It could take 30 minutes or more to locate itself. Just turn it on and let it look for a long time.
No detailed maps found that support routing
reason being you may not have an SD card inserted with maps otherwise your maps have been deleted. try running the map update on the unit and it should reinstall the maps for you... if the SD card is not missing you may have a faulty SD card or SD card slot.
My Nuvi360 works fine on batter. When connected to
Try a different connector, what you are describing sounds like one of the pins in the adapter is bent and is touching the data pin, in the gps unit, when this happens it automatically switches it into usb mode. You MIGHT be able to bend the pin out of the way in the power cord, but this is delicate and easy to break work. Hope this helps
Satellite reception
I own & operate the electronics repair company, Westek Electronics in Nashville, TN. We repair & refurbish GPS units among other things. We have repaired many nuvi 350/360 units with this issue.
This issue is typically due to a hardware malfunction and cannot be remedied by software upgrades, resetting, etc.
Do this test:
- Strip a ¼” of a wire twist-tie end (the kind found on bread wrappers) bare exposing the fine wire core.
- Power up your nuvi 350/360 and confirm that you are not receiving any signal.
- While still powered on, insert the bare-wire end of the twist-tie into the center female external antenna jack located on the side of the antenna. If done correctly the external antenna jack will firmly hold the twist-tie in place. You cannot damage the unit by doing this.
- If you now have satellite reception then proceed to step 5. If you still do not have any reception then I have no further advice other than to try all of the update/reset procedures. If all else fails return to Garmin for repair.
- Once you have established that you have signal using the twist-tie, remove the twist-tie and confirm signal loss.
Your choices to remedy this issue is as follows:
- Purchase & use an external antenna.
- Return the GPS to Garmin for repair ($175 if its out-of-warranty). Or,
- Send your Garmin Nuvi 350/360 to us for repair. We charge $55 (return shipping included) to repair this malfunction. We can also accommodate this repair transaction via eBay in order to provide you with additional reassurance (an addition $5 is added to cover eBay fees, etc. when using this option). Our eBay ID is westek_electronics, feel free to review our feedback ratings. Our repairs are covered by a 30-day warranty. If for some reason we are unable to successfully complete the repair we will return the unit to you and charge only $10 for return shipping. To initiate your repair contact us at [email protected].
Hope this helps.
