My device is about three months old and just the other day, it stopped acquiring satellites. I have tried using the reset button, but the problem persists. I can't find anything on the receiver to determine what else to do or even to verify that the GPS is on. Can you help? Thanks!
I experienced the same problem about acquiring satellite signal even when it's a clear sunny day. After 30 mintues, it was still searching! The unit appeared to have "stuck" in this acquiring mode. The following worked for me: 1) open the GPS antenna 2) press the bottom left screen while holding the power button to turn the unit on 3) enter maintenace mode 4) select diagnostics 5) clear error report, do NOT clear any user data 6) restart unit the usual way My GPS 350 was able to acquire satellite signal in less than 1 minute after the above steps were taken.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 260 which is listed on the garmin website as having the function of speaking the street names. The website even describes the text to speech funtion.
But I can't get the unit to say the street names and can't figure out how to turn the function on. The manual is no help.
Question: How do I change the Voice Language setting on my nuvi 2xx?
-->
Answer:
All of the Garmin® automotive GPS units that speak street names are also loaded with basic voice prompts (example: Turn Right in 500 feet) as well as Text-to-Speech (TTS) voices that speak street names. If one of the basic types of voice prompts has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names.
In order to change this setting on the nüvi® 2xx series, follow these steps:

When it prompts me to "Spell State", no matter what letter I push, it says "No matches found". It does'nt allow me to go any further than that point. I have done a factory default restore, but the problem still remains. HELP ME PLEASE!!! I love this thing and use it on a regular basis. ~Steve
Turn on the unit and go to Settings
Then select Map
Then select Map Info
Verify that there is a check mark next to City Navigator North America NT

I have had the Nuvi for 2 years. The touch screen does not work all of a sudden. Tried resetting the device, but I cannot get beyond the password ( cannot enter as the touch screen is not working ). Tried holding the power button to reset. It ran through pre-boot, then software load, but it just ended up coming to the password screen.
try updating the firmware...

I don't think you need a password for that...

How do i open the unit to check the circuit board?
Hi:
It can be easyto open. There is a couple of nuts behind the antenna, you have to remove them, then you need to remove the antenna, in order to do this you need to find a pin in the base of the antenna, and slide it to the center, and this free your antenna, then you can reach a couple a nuts located under the antenna, remove them and then you will be free to open your nuvi. I did this cause my power button was broken, I resolded and now is working pretty fine. the picture is my nuvi 350 opened.

We were driving down the road when our GPS shut down. We have been unable to get it to turn on again even when plugged into power at home and it isn't recognized when plugged into the computer.
Got a Garmin Nuvi 260. Same problem. I read the booklet. There's a reset button on the bottom. Disconnect from power. Push the reset button. Connect back to power. Now it works. The reset button is tiny and looks more like just text on the bottom sticker than it does a button. But push it anyway.

I have a fairly new Garmin nuvi 350 GPS and I turned it on on Friday and I had no satelitte reception. I turned it on and off during the day and I had the same problem. I even tried it this morning and it does not have any reception at all. What do you think is the problem? Or can you help?
I have being having similar problem as every one else. There is nothing wrong with your Nuvi. Garmin (the company is the problem) they are trying to make you buy a new map--Not Exactly Cheap--Do Hard Reset and solve all the problems.
1) Place a finger (Any finger, middle finger worked for me!) at the left lower corner and turn on the Nuvi unit a message appear saying "Do you really want to start up in maintenance mode?" tap Yes
2) At the Maintenace screen tap clear user data (this will restore to factory condition) and follow the instruction on adjusting your prefered setings.
3) turn it off and Repeat step 1, this time when you get to maintance screen tap on "Clear waypoints" and follow the instruction. Let it sit for about an hour then voila.
