This problem can be fixed for less than the cost of a docking station, that is if you can even find a docking station, the cost of the part is $10 on ebay, and all you have to do is find someone that can remove the old dc power jack and solder the new one in place, most mom and pop computer places will do it for about $40-75.

Your obviously having a network configuration issue. Go into Network icon, set up a network connection, make sure you have Wi-Fi and that your laptop is picking up the signal then manually set up or scan for the wifi access point, your laptop should pick up the access point and a name should appear for that wifi spot. Once that is done then you can rename your access point with your name or HOME whatever you like, its hard to explain through here.

Check that you have thermal paste between the processor and the heat-sink it is easy to get at but be caerfull with the fan it only has a short cable.

CD/DVD drive drivers are Operating System generic drivers and need not to be installed explicitly. The CD/DVD drive drivers are installed along with the Operating System and can be reinstalled automatically at next restart, if missing.

Check in the Device Manager under the "CD/DVD drive" category if there is any device listed there and having exclamation mark. If there is any exclamation mark visible beside the CD/DVD drive name then right click on it and restart the Computer.

Restarting the Computer will reinstall the CD/DVD drive driver thus causing it to work normally.

i'll try make it simple..disconnect all input mains power sources.."just remove or pick open the cmos battery (+3v) from the main/mother board and resit/fit it again carefully"..
configure bios again..save n exit n restart..hope it'll work..

Hello: On some laptops you have to hold the power button down for less then half a sec for it to come on. Also the button itself may be defective check Acer's web site and see if there is a technical bulletin relating to this issue.

Best is to contact Acer directly since they don't sell parts seperatly, the optical drive is easy to remove for this notebook.
You can find a slide button on the lower part of your notebook that
locks the optical drive in place, if you slide this button back you'll able to slide the optical drive out, no screwdrivers needed.

reseat the memory of your computer. basically, it will require you to open the computer and reseat the memory modules. then, start reinstalling XP again.

Check control panel, sounds and audio devices properties, and configure them and Skype as required.

how unsurprising..you will find the elevating it from being flush on the desk will go a long way to helping with the heating effect..too long that way, and bye bye to the uProcessor.

Have you tried viewing in a different software, as i found that acer use a form of Power DVD as their standard movie player which comes installed with the system. Try viewing in media player for example.

When and if it's running, run 'dxdiag' to see if windows reports any sound and video conflicts. It could be the graphic card; as i think(correct me if i'm wrong) that this model has seperate dedicated graphics, other than being on board. I'm assuming all drivers are ok and none of the vga or dvi ports give you any video either. Although the graphics are independent, it's not like a desktop pc graphics agp card, they are; as far as i know integrated in the motherboard, so the board may be the but of your problem, in which case is a replacement worth it or is it within the warranty period.

Seems like you have a dead battery AND now a broken power cord. Just in case, remove battery and power cord and hold the power button down for minute.

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor. 2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor. 3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on. 4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works). 5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord. 6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced. 7.
